Considering how many people actually seem to think they mean something, I'd say they serve the purpose of furthering the destruction of America. People are now completely brain dead about civics.

Liberals here in Michigan are still squealing about right to work because "Obama won". They look at me like I'm an idiot when I point out that he didn't win a single seat in the Michigan legislature.
