Apache co-pilot Prince Harry launched a missile attack on the Taliban in a devastating airstrike in Afghanistan.
The 27-year-old was called in to provide air support to troops and discharged a 100lb Hellfire missile.
The attack happened in late October, shortly after the prince returned to Afghanistan for his second tour of duty as gunship co-pilot.
Captain Harry Wales – as he is known in the Army – is a co-pilot gunner in the Apache unit which has the highest ‘kill rate’ in the war.
As the co-pilot gunner, Harry commands missions, fire the weapons, navigates and sometimes take over the controls.
The two-crew gunship – nicknamed the ‘flying tank’ – is used by UK forces in Afghanistan to smash the Taliban, gather intelligence and provide support for soldiers on the ground.

Yeah, Harry would have had a great time at Tailhook. A lot of my Air Force colleagues were regular attendees, since the Vegas gathering was held less than 20 miles from Nellis AFB, but once the scandal broke, you couldn’t find anyone at Nellis who would admit (publicly) to being a Tailhook attendee.
Of course, I was never there, but my USAF Weapons School T-shirt features a design that was created on the back of a cocktail napkin—in a Tailhook suite—by the legendary aviation cartoonist Hank Caruso. He did an impressive job, even after a few adult beverages.
When was the last time we had a POTUS, or a family member thereof, actually in combat? I mean JFK managed to wreck his PT boat, Johnson got a silver star for what was probably all hype.
I think only GHWB and Teddy Roosevelt were the ones to get within shooting distance in the last century or so, Well Truman was in Artillery in WW1..... Harry has more balls than the last 3 presidents we’ve had put together.
With a new royal heir on the way, there is less need for ‘a spare’ prince. Harry has to demonstrate his usefulness somehow.
I climbed up to the cockpit of Huey Cobra Attack chopper at a museum near here. I don’t think anyone with more than a 32” waist could fit inside it.
I wonder if the Apache has the same confines?
