Don’t mess with Marlboro Township. The leafy, well-heeled New Jersey suburb will station a permanent armed cop in each of its nine schools starting Jan. 2. * * * The mayor and other town officials had approved the initiative before the chief of the National Rifle Association ignited a firestorm on Friday by calling for armed guards for schools.

I don’t get this, why would they do this? This will prevent school shootings and save lives. This really doesn’t make it fair for the psycho killers. Why can’t they shoot their victims in peace? People like New York city Despot Mike Bloomberg, the Mincing Mental Midget Mayor of Megalomania, has done so much to assure killers get to kill in peace, completely unopposed, and somebody goes and does this! *Sheesh!*

Wow, I am so proud of NJ! The bluest state is beginning to come to its sense!
Let NJ’s Marlboro township be your model!
Talk is cheap. It takes quick actions to protect our children!

Armed security is costly. A far better way is to allow all school staff to pack heat.

“A far better way is to allow all school staff to pack heat”.

I am afraid that I disagree with the “all” statement. I personally feel a person must be trained not only when/how to shoot but be confident in those skills. Meaning that they won’t freeze. There are a lot of teachers I experienced through the years that are either on medication or just not “with it” enough to handle this responsibility. However, if a teacher was willing to take a gun class and everything else checked out.. I’d have no problem with it.

I thought Christie said this wasn’t going to happen.

Christie criticized the NRA proposal, saying we can’t turn schools into “armed camps”. As if having a guard at a school is any such thing.

All the towns are doing this, whether they announce it or not.

Liberals are so immoral, don’t care about kids’ lives one bit when it gets in the way of the agenda.

The Hazleton Area high school has police and armed guards that is because of the gangs that has taken over the area. My daughters elementary school in the same district is not armed. They should do the same as the high school I would hope.

There are armed guards in banks protecting money. There are armed guards in museums protecting art. But the left and the wacked out media throw a fit if we want to guard our most precious treasure of all. . . our children. Imagine the irony.

Yep - that's like clling many banks "armed camps". How many people feel threatened when they walk into a bank and see an armed security guard?

Court houses have armed guards.

State houses have armed guards.

The Congress and Senate office buildings have armed guards.

Many politicians and entertainers have armed bodyguards, many with fully automatic weapons and armor.

We pay for *ALL* of this protection, either through our taxes or by our patronage.

Politicians and entertainers calling for “gun control” are filthy, lying, hypocritical PIGS.

"I thought Christie said this wasn’t going to happen."

Maybe he meant that the state isn't going to pay for it. But AFAIK, NJ's large and medium size cities have had police at their schools for years. I even thought Newark had a designated School Police force.

considering that most teachers are a few sandwiches short of a picnic, I would prefer that teachers not pack anything except their lunch.

My mom is a former teacher. She’s been married to an avid hunter for almost 60 years and raised two boys who hunt. She has always had a weak stomach when it comes to guns - scared to death of them, even though we all handle them responsibly and are extremely safey conscious. She is against teachers having guns in school - I was pretty shocked. It boils down to her personal feelings (i.e. she is too afraid of guns to want to carry one & projecting her feelings to the entire situation) .... I explained to her that it would have to be *voluntary* - only teachers that wanted to carry and were willing to be trained would be doing it. That helped a little, but she still told my niece last night that she opposes teachers having guns in the schools.

Personally, if I had a child in public school, I would be on the phone with the school administration & county school board telling them my child would not be back in school unless there was someone there who could shoot back. The odds of it happening in a school where my kid would be? Probably very slim; however, it IS going to happen again - could I live with myself if I let my child go to a place where they are sitting ducks with no chance ... and then something DID happen when it is MY responsibility to protect my kid? No. I could easily have lost a niece during the VT shooting - she was in the building next door & on another day, she would have been in those classrooms or the shooter could have chose her building instead. We weren’t quite sure which building she was in that morning so I know the feeling of waiting to find out if someone you dearly love has been killed and it is horrific .... that’s where I’m coming from.

On Drudge I see the Daily News is calling LaPierre "The Craziest Man on Earth."

Well, since Mayor Hornick devised his plan before the NRA spoke, then the mayor must now be "The Craziest Man on Earth." And what makes it even crazier is that the guy is "a Democrat who supports an assault-weapons ban and stricter gun control."

This must be spinning the heads of the "MSM/Leftist Complex."

Armed Security is necessary. There are a lot of teachers who would not be willing to, or capable of, arming themselves and effectively warding off perpetrators of evil. Better to pay a few more dollars to keep the children safe. There is enough fat in the budget that we can find a way to pay for this.

Allow, not force.

I'm sure there are enough retired cops who wouldn't mind having a 7 to 4 job during the school year. And I don't have a problem with teachers or administrative staff with licenses to carry concealed on school grounds.

Heck, I'm sure that Willy the Janitor would love to carry while on the job.

I've shot in competition against a lot of cops, and brother, I'd rather have a teacher or staff member who shoots as a hobby, and shoots a lot for the pleasure, and is invested in the school and who knows the people who should be in that school... rather than hired security who can claim none of that.

Plus I routinely beat the snot out of those cops. I'm sure there are many who can shoot well... but for them, it's a job.

He would probably prefer we be in an unarmed America waiting for an attack. I’m tired of these B———S talking C__P. If we want our children and our families to be safe we are apparently going to have to do it ourselves.
