Republicans are in danger of losing their power and Democrats could become a near-permanent majority if the GOP doesn’t conduct a major overhaul on its party operations, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has warned. …

Gingrich said there are 25 issues the party should address, including more work to include minority communities, a push for the party to compete in big cities and a refusal to ignore parts of the country that lean Democratic. …

The GOP needs to take its message to the inner cities, sure, but not by changing the message to liberalism

As long as they get their golden health care, and retirements, you can call them anything you want. Just don’t call them late to the feeding trough!

From what I’ve studied about the GOP, they haven’t had a true conservative since Reagan. And the establishment hated him because he wasn’t a ‘squish’. Think about it. When was the last time the GOPe had a conservative as President and not a progressive (globalist)?

In my lifetime (i.e., since 1940), the GOP has nominated two conservatives for President -- Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

As difficult as it might be to comprehend, the 3rd most conservative nominee was clearly George W. Bush.

Mr Newt, why don’t we really fool ‘em and just call ourselves Democrats that have a secret handshake.

People who live in the inner cities are really hostages — if you don’t agree with the politics of the Leftist masters, you better keep your mouth shut or you will be in big trouble or worse. Changes of heart through the salvation of Jesus is our only hope. Not the garbage spewed by the likes of Rev.Wright.

Nominee? Technically that makes Romney the fourth most conservative. But that’s stretching the definition to its breaking point.

That’s what led to consistent losses.

Newt just caved on gay marriage. Funny all this is coming out now.

Newt’s part of the establishment, not the tea party, here’s a hint, he never left. ;)

“The GOP needs to take its message to the inner cities, sure, but not by changing the message to liberalism”

Those folks in the inner cities have not the slightest interest in “the GOP message”, letalone an actual conservative one. They are not likely to develop an interest any time soon.

They perceive the GOP message as poison to the way they wish to live their lives.

And actually, it is.

Unfortunately for the GOP, it isn’t just the inner city types who feel as such. And the ranks of the others who share such sympathies are increasing, not shrinking...

Newt might want to take a look at this graphic before opining again on the GOP's minority status:

Only because the opposition’s platform is to LIE, CHEAT, STEAL, BEG AND BORROW.

That’s easy...He was running for job and trying to jive his way into the #1 position.

He’s always been an ‘insider’ by his words/actions outside of that failed running.

If Palin gains momentum,

What has Sarah Palin said or done since '08 that indicates to you that she is interested in running for anything?

“Are they having buyer’s remorse yet? “

Not Me! Gingrich would have destroyed Obama in the debates, and he would have been a president who got some needed stuff done. I am just amazed at the “Conservatives” here that won’t cut Gingrich any slack because of his personal life and yet sit idly by while the “progressives” give Clinton a pass! Do you think the RATS who might have voted for Gingrich were worried about his wife? We were trying to elect a president, not a pope. Gingrich is a whole lot brighter than any of the other candidates this time. Romney ended up like a wind up doll, saying exactly the same thing in the exact same way. Can you say Bob Dole or John McLame! The so-called “Christian Right” probably wouldn’t vote for Jesus, so the GOP has itself in a box. The “Christians” want a Bible thumper for president which, although it would be a refreshing change, isn’t going to happen in the current environment. So they sit out the elections time after time, and in so doing, insure that we have a Marxist government. I just don’t know how anyone, irrespective of his religious beliefs, can do such a thing! They are as looney as the Muslims and their stupidity is killing what’s left of our country. Flame Away!

"a fatal flaw that ends up killing their candidacy. "

Has ANYONE researched hoe Mitt's mormonism influenced the abstention of the white voter? We are told that they didn't vote - why?

“Changes of heart through the salvation of Jesus is our only hope.”

This comment leaves me speechless! I always was taught that God helps those who help themselves, not those who sit around waiting for someone else. Good luck with “converting” enough voters to your way of thinking.

Permanent minority status is what happens when you put winning elections over being right, power over principle.

The GOP haven’t really fought for the people who voted for them in years...how is that going to inspire new voters?
