Anyone, regardless of their past service, their present condition or their future aspirations, who tries to bring a firearm into Mexico is a damned fool. I don’t need all caps for that verity.

My understanding is that he asked some law enforcement (whether Border Patrol or who exactly, I'm not sure) if he was ok to take the gun into Mexico. He was told that as long as he had proper paperwork it would be ok.

He knew there was a risk or he wouldn't have sought out information.

We here in Northern Mexico (San Diego to those in Rio Linda) know not to cross that border for any reason. This isn't 1980 any more.
