Marine veteran Jon Hammar Jr., who was arrested on a dubious weapon charge in August was released today from the notorious CEDES prison, according to his attorney.

Eddie Varon-Levy said he and Hammar Jr. are currently at the Matamoros, Mexico-Brownsville, Texas border crossing where he was arrested Aug. 13, waiting to be processed to proceed across the bridge that spans the Rio Grande River.

Hammar Jr., is expected to be reunited with his father, who immediately flew to Brownsville this morning after learning from Varon-Levy that a judge in Mexico had dropped the felony charge because of a civil rights violation of Mexican federal law.

In about 1973 I was with a group of buddies, girls and guys at Rosarito beach partying late at nite and got robbed/fined by Federales...

I stepped over the border into that God-forsaken hellhole one time, in the very same year. I was only 21, but even then I could see that the place was dangerous, and not fit for civilized man or beast.

I've never been back.

In my opinion, O’Reilly deserves a lot of credit for this.

Bill O’Reilly made a big issue of this, including a special segment a few days ago on “The Five” - more effective than Hillary and Obama put together - the power of the right kind of the press.....

That’s life in dealing with the Mexican government - corruption. They have to be paid to do the right thing. Always been that way. Our relationship with Mexico is a one way street. Always has been.

We permitted them to ship all their peasants over here in the hope of staving off the marxists and bringing poor people work opportunity. We got the peasants and they vote for Marxists over here which is helping to kill the middle class in the US. In the meantime, Mexico is able to have a middle class now.

Our elite in Texas has a long history of taking care of Mexico’s poor. Shipping them all into the US is a more recent solution to Mexico’s poverty. When I say poverty, I mean down in the dirt horrible suffering.

When I was a kid and we got stationed in Corpus Christie, we took a trip to Mexico and mom gave each of us some money to spend at the border shops. Poor and injured, oozing, and crippled people were lined up in the parking lot and I gave away all my money before we even reached the shops. LOL

“Judging from barry’s utter disdain for anything military, I highly doubt it.”

That’s not what I was referring to, the prisoner. Barry could care less about the Marine, but he was starting to get lots of bad PR on TV, in particular from O’Reilly and Fox, as well as having high profile Senators involved such as Rubio and Bill Nelson, etc. Secretary Hillary Clinton was getting flack as well. The silence from the White House was making Obama look bad. That’s the reason he acted. Because of the bad publicity, and he had to act fast, as the hue and cry was to get the Marine home before Christmas. Thus I see bribery to get the Mexican gov’t to grease the wheels with the cartel to get the Marine released. The cartel wouldn’t do it, IMO, without being paid off to do so. Hence my previous comment, which I believe to be correct.

Ha I don’t think Obama cares enough to pay any money for this.

Heck he wouldn’t even bother to make a public statement on it.

If Obama had anything to do with this he’d be trying to take the credit.

And who knows, the Obama regime may have paid the Mexican gov’t to facilitate this..

...316 million last year wasn't enough?

Latino nations do have traditions of amnesties around Christmas time so this was the best time for Jon Hamer's people to really push the issue. Useless idiots at the State Department could care less....they are too busy organizing LGBT Christmas parties. Hillary figured --  "Screw him he's a gun nut"

Thanks Bill O'Reilly for shaming this cast of idiots into taking action

“But, I am curious as to why the dude was taking an old bolt action 410 to Costa Rica so to hunt. “

He’s a Marine, and Marines carry arms as a natural and integral part of their person. He probably gave no thought to the 410. It was just there. A tool. Something you carried around. Kinda like a spare tire in a car. 99% of people give no thought whatsoever to a spare tire; it’s just there, a tool, waiting to be used when needed.

That’s my best guess.

Well, sergeantdave, that's the most benevolent guess that I've seen in awhile. Being that the shotgun reportedly was inoperable it sure wasn't much of a tool. But, nevertheless, he got a raw deal from the Mexicans whatever his objective was with hauling that old shotgun down there. I would suggest to him if I should ever have the opportunity to use his thinker in the future though :)

But I believe in my heart that it was the little people-—us that made a difference...the "little people" did make a difference, but I think O'Reilly's big megaphone made the difference - somebody finally speaking out forcefully with enough clout and persistence to be heard and not ignored by the smug clods in Washington - would that we had a few more loud mouths standing up for our side of things.......
