Republican Sen. John Cornyn told the Washington Post that he had problems with several positions Hagel has taken over the years, many of which will receive opposition from both sides of the aisle.

“It is not just an isolated problem. It is a consistent position in support of American weakness,” Cornyn said. “I can’t support a Hagel nomination if it comes … There are some points about his record that make him unacceptable.” …

Hey Bambi, we’ve never had an LGBT SecDef. Or a Muslim. Or a dwarf. Or a pacifist. How about appointing Kookcinich, or one of the leaders of Code Pink? It would only be fair, so the obamunists can complete their social engineering and destruction of the military.

I responded to an office worker who criticized the NRA suggestion of armed security because guns have no place in the school. I told her that as a former military, if she had a job in the Army, she would fail military tactics because she based her decisions on ideology and not reality. Bottom line is today ALL our schools are currently vulnerable to active shooters. Elementary schools especially because they are mainly staffed by women, student body is small children and most important not prepared to defend itself thru passive and active means till the cops arrive. Making a decision based on emotional hatred of something to the point of overriding tactical reality is dangerous to the people whom she wanted to protect. I told her that if she ever was a platoon leader with such an approach to tactics, she would be frag by her own troops.

I agree with the Senator. He would be a far stronger messenger if he himself had been man enough to serve his country in uniform. Where are the Reagans, Goldwaters, Buckleys, Helms, Laxalts...all of who in some form or fashion served their country? Why so many limp-dicked “conservatives” who couldn't make time to serve in uniform either as active or reserve service members...it is truly off-putting....just disgraceful in my opinion.

My guess is that only reason some Muslim terrorist group hasn't tried to do a Beslan here isn't because it's too difficult, but because the PR fallout would be devastating.

Cornyn probably thinks Hagel is too conservative. Cornyn is the most dangerous Senator of all. He is on a mission to pack the Senate with radical left-wingers. His handpicked Senators become Democrats when they lose. If Cornyn ever lost a primary he would switch parties. He is only a Republican because he can accomplish his goals better inside the party than outside.

Do you really think so? Muslims became more well-like after 9/11, and Christians less well-liked.

I am going to assume you mean Cornyn here?

Hagel (whom I do NOT want for SECDEF) did serve in Vietnam 67-68 as a Sgt Squad Leader in the 9th Infantry, got a CIB and couple of PH’s.

I do not like Sen Cornyn — at all.... However, based on personal experience with a (local) campaign, he truly backed a conservative Republican ... but that candidate ended up losing....

I find Cornyn very timid, tepid. I have a mental image of his hiding under his desk in his office, waiting for the latest media storm to pass. I sometimes call his office to berate his staff for his silence on the issues (all kinds of issues). They say... “Oh, he made a statement the other day.” I say: “Why do I see Schumer on the news all the time, but.. never Cornyn?”

My message to Cornyn: “Man the hell up!”

If your idea of a conservative is Charlie Crist, Arlen Specter, and Lincoln Chaffee, than you and I have very different opinions. You are very naive. Why does Conrnyn try to get people like that in office and tries to help conservatives in Senate races lose? The man is an evil liar.

Oh yes, I am well aware of Hagel’s service; he is exemplary. It is the other limp-dicks that I often reference...it is disgusting in my opinion but I am a minority in that regard within this forum.

My idea of a conservative would be Jesse Helms, Ronald Reagan, Paul Laxalt, Thomas Sowell, James/Bill Buckley...that generation is going, going, gone and there seem to be only limpdicks taking their place... perhaps I am just growing old though....

I would say there is more than just yourself with that opinion.

I try to give Vets a little ‘leeway’ but when those such as Kerry and Hagel want to further their career by ‘all of a sudden becoming our ‘friend’’ I have no use for them.

I designed a bumper sticker (IN HONOR OF KERRY) which states

“I was a /proud\ VIetnam Vet Before it was Fashionable.”

Don't get carried away nick. Cornyn for sure ain't Cruz, Rubio or Rand Paul, but he's not a liberal. Unlike Floridah, or Pennsylvania, Texas has not had anyone of consequence jump to dem, Cornyn, like most there, is a politician.

I think you are giving him way too much credit. Why does he put people like Crist, Specter, and Chaffee? Why does he sabotage every conservative? He cannot be trusted and everything he does is calculated to destroy conservatism. He’s a Trojan Horse.

Cornyn beats the hell out of any Texas Dem. Cornyn has been a loyal Texas Republican from day one, which does not mean a Tea Party guy. Me thinks you need a dose of Yeller Dog Dem history for perspective.

There are plenty as you describe.
