Despite the attempts by the Left to use the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut to forward their anti-gun agenda, Americans feel that there are other avenues they would rather explore to protect to innocent children, according to a new Gallup Poll. In order of preference, the poll shows that 53% of Americans would favor an increased police presence at schools, 50% wanted to increase government spending on mental health screening and treatment, 47% thought that gun violence on TV, in movies and in video games should be decreased, and 42% thought the sale of assault and semi-automatic guns should be banned. Almost as many people (34%) thought that at least one school official in every school

Americans also want 4 more years of mr obama.

Good that they don’t want their guns taken yet, but they are wholly in favor of galloping collectivism. Good luck with that.

A Pew polls claims this:

http://www.wmal.com/common/page.php?feed=102&pt=NEW+POLL+%3A+Americans+Favor+Gun+Control+Over+Gun+Ownership+Rights&id=1901&is_corp=0

(WASHINGTON) — A new Pew Research Center poll conducted following the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., finds that more Americans believe that gun control should take precedence over the rights of gun owners.

In the wake of the tragedy that cost the lives of 20 children and six adults, 49 percent of the respondents in the Pew survey say it is more important to put restrictions on Second Amendment rights compared to 42 percent who maintain that the rights of gun owners should come first.

The remainder was undecided.

While this would appear to give impetus to President Obama’s attempts to reinstall an assault rifle ban and other measures opposed by the National Rifle Association, the number of Americans favoring restrictions on gun owners is actually lower than it was nearly five years ago.

In April 2008, when Republican George W. Bush was president, 58 percent of Pew respondents who were asked the same question put a higher priority on controlling guns, while 37 percent asserted that Second Amendment rights were more important.

Meanwhile, a separate Gallup poll showed that a majority of Americans think more spending on mental health programs and an added security presence in schools would be more effective at stopping similar school shooting than reinstating a prohibition on certain weapons.

The fact that when your child turns 18 the HIPAA laws kick in and health providers are no longer allowed to discuss details of their condition with you (even though they are on your insurance in many cases)....that’s a BIG part of the problem!

Daniel Henninger has an excellent piece in the WSJ Opinion pages called, “No Guard Rails, Again”. The article put into clear words some of the things that I have been thinking and saying since before the Newtown shooting, that Democrat political organizing has exacerbated, maybe caused the chaos that we see around us.

I had noted before the Newtown shooting that both the Arizona shooter of Gabby Giffords and the Colorado movie theater shooters had been deeply steeped in leftist political ideology and organizing that possibly had sent two unstable young men over the edge of sanity. The Arizona shooter was a graduate of a Bill Ayres designed “Small School” in Tuscon, an experimental high school that emphasizes political activism and organizing over test scores. The Colorado movie theater shooter was a PHD candidate in neuroscience, which is nothing more that the study of the use of buzz words and phrases as emotional triggers and how these buzz words can be applied to political organizing, Democrat political organizing. In other words the Colorado shooter was studying mass brain washing for political purposes.

Henninger even gives a date when this all began, 1969 in Chicago, when the concept of the end justifies the means became institutionalized, and civil responsibility and self control became passe. We, as a country became undone.

Henninger says that the only way to regain some self control is through leadership. The problem with that is that the Democrats don’t want to lead, they want to herd us, like cattle or sheep. Following a leader involves a certain amount of self will and rational thought, both of which are anathema to leftist political organizing.

“Americans also want 4 more years of mr obama.”

Well, 50.9 per cent of the voters did in fact vote for Obama, so nearly 50 per cent voted for Romney or someone else.

Another 125 million people, half of eligible adults, didn’t vote at all.

Why is it illegal for you, while walking through an airport, to even joke about a bomb, yet a known mentally unstable kook can threaten to kill an entire school without consequence?

The ones who didn’t vote might be the smart ones. Hell of a choice were offered.

When the choice is bad and worse, doesn’t make that much of a difference who chooses.
