yes, and that was what Obama wanted. the only way for the Republicans to get out of this mess, was to have walked out the first day and say they were not voting for ANY tax cuts. We were either going to get screwed because of the sequestration because the dems haven’t had a budget for so long, or the dems were going to turn anything down that the republicans offered anyway. so, either way, we lose.

When voters taxes go up in a few weeks there will be mobs with ropes and torches after the House Republicans. (because the bill they defeated was really not a tax increase bill but would of stopped them from going up.)
I understand your frustration with the 47% but pissing off another 40% (87% total) by raising their taxes out of spite you will end up with even higher taxes and more gubment control under Dems.

I thought sequestration was a very idiotic way to deal with the debt limit debate last year. I didn’t support it as cover then, and I don’t support it as an excuse to raise taxes on job creators now.

Taxes might go up temporarily and idiot democrats may celebrate, but if conservatives hold their ground, the other side will blink first.
The only way to negotiate with people like these Chicago thugs is by making sure they understand that we’re just as willing to draw blood as they are.
The “fiscal cliff” and the idea of restoring the current tax rates isn’t going anywhere. I’d rather no bargain at all than a bargain on their terms: spending reductions off the table.
