House Speaker John A. Boehner said Wednesday that the House will pass his bill that would raise taxes on millionaires but extend tax cuts for everyone else, and said it's then up to President Obama to either accept that plan or be responsible for a tax increase on everyone.
"The president will have a decision to make. He can call on the Senate Democrats to pass our bill, or he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history," Mr. Boehner said as he briefly appeared before reporters to respond to Mr. Obama's press conference earlier in the day.
Mr. Boehner spoke for 50 seconds and did not take any questions unlike Mr. Obama, who handled questions from a handful of reporters about both guns and about negotiations over the fiscal cliff.

This guy probably already has a plan to cave. I don't trust this creep as far as I can spit!
Time to bring Speaker Gingrich out of moth balls.
“The president will have a decision to make. He can call on the Senate Democrats to pass our bill, or he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history, “
I know Boehner is getting ragged on a lot these days, and a lot of it is deserved. Still, I think he may be playing the game better than we’re giving him credit for. Offer up a millionaire’s tax that Obama’s own party once submitted, then let Obama’s own party shoot it down.
Of course, it could be that Boehner is planning on caving again, and this is all theater, but I bitterly cling to my one shred of hope. :-)
And the spending problem belongs to Congress, too. The debt, too. Inflation, too. All are powers of Congress.
Doesn’t matter...the MSM won’t report this honestly...so, in a way, it didn’t happen.
No he won’t. He has already successfully blamed the GOPe for it.
name one time Boner has held his ground against a democrat....
Sorry to dash your last shred of hope.
That’s because Bonehead was out front day after day negoiating with
himself. No wonder the GOP will be blamed. Bonehead way over exposed
himself. He has become the face of the fiscal cliff.
This failure is bi-partisan and has been since early 2011. Boehner made the deals which led to Bush Tax Cuts only being renewed for 2 years, and he also made the fiscal cliff deal complete with super committees and sequestration. The good little boys like Paul Ryan went along with this too. The fiscal cliff is a bi-partisan creation. Taxing and spending originate in the House, and Boehner’s House continues to tax and spend.
The largest tax increase is OBAMACARE.
True, but another tax increase -- From the MARXIST in the White Hut (who loves raising TAXES) -- is coming!!
Nah..Boehner is a drunk, plain and simple. He cannot be counted on from one day to the next to hold the same positions. In his diluted, drunk mind he is making nicey-nice in DC and doing well for America. He’s a damn drunk and he serves none of us well.
Only if you and your fellow Republicans ALLOW it, Speaker Boehner!
Boehner and the GOP agreed to this “fiscal cliff” during that debt ceiling “deal”. He is trying to say he is not partly responsible for it.
Or when he gets a few democrats to vote with him. Ya know, bipartisan support.
I agree. However, if he goes any further, the GOP is history.
he is not partly responsible for it, he is FULLY responsible for it.
Not since Pontius Pilate has the cost of hand washing been so great...
Does idiot Boner really think he can pin anything on the media’s god?
And you Bonehead, will be the first leader of the House GOP to lead
a vote to raise taxes.
Jim, I wouldn't mind that a bit, and as you well know, the Speaker does not have to be a sitting congress critter. At least Newt can make cogent arguments, and isn't afraid of a good old fashioned fight. Boehner is beyond useless!
I would love to see the Tea Party House members put Newts name in the bucket! I hope they take your suggestion!
Can't believe I'm saying this, but in this case, I HOPE there is the greatest tax increase in history ... it would go perfectly with OBAMA's "legacy" and would forever brand libs as spend and tax. I always smile when I remember my lib (X) friend saying to me he was voting for Obama (the first time) because he was "fiscally responsible" unlike Bush.
John, “assault weapons?” ... does this include forks and sharp sticks? Define it please?
Bawlin’ Boehner is now starting to shuck and jive, trying to dodge the fact that any tax increases, whether large or small, are actually HIS doing. Had he not decided to cave to zero, he could have had the Dems and zero directly on the hook for any tax increases. But, because he caved, he made the coming taxmageddon a bi-partisan effort rather than just a leftist effort!
Good going, John . . . . . . . . . . . you moronic sockpuppet!!
Boehner needs to shut up and stop going over to the Kenyan’s house and then demand that the Kenya finally submit a budget. Refuse to do anything until he does.
“I know Boehner is getting ragged on a lot these days, and a lot of it is deserved. Still, I think he may be playing the game better than were giving him credit for. Offer up a millionaires tax that Obamas own party once submitted, then let Obamas own party shoot it down.”
I agree. I think it is wicked clever! Make the DEMS & President the ones to ultimately precipitate the fiscal clift.
As embarrassing and useless as Boehner is, it is surprising that hardly any of the “troops” are in a state of revolt against “the leadership.” Maybe he has “something” on nearly all of them.
