Speaker Boehner: "Mr. President, It's Plan B or Be Responsible For the Largest Tax Hike In History"
Ace of Spades ^

Posted on 12/19/2012 12:08:21 PM PST by Perdogg

A very strong statement from Speaker Boehner:

"Tomorrow the House will pass legislation to make permanent tax relief for nearly every American -- 99.81% of the American people. Then the President will have a decision to make. He can call on the Senate Democrats to pass that bill or he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history."

RE :”Screw Plan B. I will go with Plan A - do nothing. I look forward to seeing the bottom rate increase by 50%. For too long, those people have not been paying their fair share. And I especially look forward to enforcing a cap on the debt ceiling so that this Administration can no longer get a blank check from the Fed. Why wait around for Lucy to pull back those promised spending cuts? Do nothing, and we automatically get $1.1 trillion in cuts THIS YEAR.”

My understanding is that this plan does nothing more than extend the Bush rates for <$1M of income for everyone, it doesnt cancel the automatic spending cuts, or extend the debt limit. It is exactly what O doesnt want.

A few weeks ago I posted a vanity explaining that Bohner has to do exactly this.

Republicans cannot make themselves the middle class tax raisers(which O gets to spend yet) , that is suicide. They tried that exactly a year ago with FICA and it was a disaster.

Believe me, if House Republicans take suicidal stances you will hate the terms of surrender to O that they end up signing.

Let Pelosi Dems vote against this, to raise our taxes, that is what they want anyway.

So are you saying you believe 0bama and not Boehner? I am not saying that Boehner is telling the truth. He could be distorting. 0bama is lying.

You seem to be saying 0bama is telling the truth and Boehner is a liar. They may both be liars. But 0bama telling the truth is not possible.

“...he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history...”

Note to Speaker Boehner: OBAMA DOES NOT CARE. Understand? Let me repeat: OBAMA DOES NOT CARE.

The GOP should leave town and make Obama own it one way or the other.

Exactly. Democrats have railed against the Bush tax cuts for a decade now, using it as the foundation of their class warfare rhetoric. It's time we made them own it.

I vote for Plan A.

The best part is where I explained what would happen if Bohner did hold the tax cuts hostage:

Here's what the Republican House must do on taxes right now, and what will happen if they don't( 12/7/12 | sickoflibs)

I SAY LET SEQUESTRATION HAPPEN!!

I see your $100 billion and raise you $1 trillion more. Forget sequestration. Let's refuse to raise the debt ceiling instead. No more borrowing means no more $1.1 trillion in deficit spending for the current fiscal year. It's time to begin putting the padlocks on some government buildings.

Hogwash.

We will go over the fiscal cliff. Then, after about two months of Americans experiencing reduced paychecks, Obama will propose tax “cuts”.

They will then become the “Obama tax cuts” and the words “Bush tax cuts” will never be uttered again.

Obama is not going to budge on this until March.

One of the attendees at the recent Builderberg meeting was caught on cam commenting about all the protesters that showed up. He said something to the effect that: they're here protesting because we've allowed them to make too much money. Could the man and his comment have a connection to the destructive actions of the fraud in the WH as well as the rest of the POS politicians in DC who clearly refuse to do anything positive for this country?

The fact that the GWB tax rates were set up to expire within ten years gives him a nearly impossible hand to play

Well, the real problem was that in 2010, the tax cuts were only extended for two years to 2012, instead of being made permanent in 2005. And who do we have to thank for that? A REPUBLICAN!

Voinovich opposes Bush effort to make tax cuts permanent

Even when we win at the voting booth, we lose due to "Republicans".

It was also interesting to review some of the debate that occurred in 2010 and some of the votes that were taken:

Tax cut extensions fall short in Senate

(Democrat) House passes bill to extend Bush-era tax cuts to middle class

Doesn’t matter. It’s a mantra, just intended to be repeated continuously, it doesn’t have to be literally true, because by the time the correction is explained the eyes of the average voter will have glazed over. We’re finally learning to fight like the left does.

All together now: “LARGEST TAX HIKE IN HISTORY”.

Now Republicans need to stop whining about the 0.2%

Agreed.

Dems have the WH and Senate. And we really expect to get absolutely ZERO tax hikes?

The President will either have to compromise on his 1% stand or hike middle class taxes. This is a good move.

House Repubs all falling down, and getting concussions, taking time off might work better.

That would be both funny and a big slap in Hillary's face at the same time.

“The House Republicans should pass a bill That would re-instate the Bush tax cuts, then pass abill de-funding obama care, then passa bill defunding the czars and all cost of these positions, Then foreign aid to Iran, Egypt, etc. These are but a few there should be more with spefic spending cuts and cut all US funding to the UN. Pass these on and let the democrats do as they will. Republicans need to do what’s right and forget about trying to negotiate with the democrats.”

I can’t stop laughing at this! Common sense? By Republicans???? HA!!!!!!!! Stop it!!! I can’t take anymore!!! You’re killing me!!!!

The President will either have to compromise on his 1% stand or hike middle class taxes. This is a good move. “

Obama ran on raising taxes and won and these tax increases are automatic so there is no way to get him to sign the extensions, or even get them to him.

Better to fight like a Dem does, meaning fight to win!
Put Dems on the defense for a change.

The idea that House Republicans should say that these 99.8% taxes must go up if ANY (0.2%) do go up, and then later claim it was really Obama who did it, and that will accomplish anything is just stupid. It has been tried and tried and its always a disaster.

You ascribe more intelligence to the American people that the evidence would otherwise suggest. If Boehner “went away” until March, the media would launch an impeachment effort or something. And Boehner must like all the attention and is going no where. Even whem Obama heads to HI, I think Boehner may stay put in DC.

I guess common sense went out the GOP window with Boise Penrose of PA or some politician decades ago, and for all I know Penrose didn’t have common sense either. He had a catchy name though.

My vote would be for Thelma and Louise. Nearly everyone in this country should pay some amount of federal income tax. Especially the moochers.
