Two Christmases ago a good friend of mine almost lost his family to a deranged brother-in-law who was off his meds and started popping off shotgun rounds in the middle of the crowded living room. My friend and several other family members managed to tackle him and wrestle the shotgun out of his hands. Fortunately nobody was hit, but it was a very close call.

The next day I met him at the local gunshop and we were waiting at the door when they opened up. I then helped transport a gun safe over to their house and my friend's sister brought all of the guns over so that we could secure them for her.

Yikes! I grew up in a house full of guns - easy access because you never knew when something was going to need killing- but we were all healthy and happy and not a one of us felt the need for any anti depression or anti psychotic medicine.

If someone started acting all crazy - then it would have been time to lock up all the guns in the gun safe. We had one, the expensive guns were always in there.
