Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont was sworn in Tuesday as president pro tempore of the Senate.

As the longest serving Democrat now in the Senate, Leahy moved to third place in the line of presidential succession, behind Vice President Joe Biden and House Speaker John Boehner.

Biden swore Leahy in as the successor to Hawaii Sen. Daniel Inouye in the Senate post. Inouye, who also chaired the Senate Appropriations Committee, died Monday at age 88. A vase of white roses was on Inouye’s desk on the Senate floor.

I wonder if Biden was thinking: “if only I’d remained in the senate, then I’D be third in line for the presidency!”

“At least with Inouye you knew he didn’t hate the US.”

And how do you know that? He was a war hero 60 years ago, but he’s been a member of the political party that has had as it’s goal the destruction of this country’s founding documents his entire life! Now he’s been replaced with another foreign-born Japanese. Maize Hirono, born in Fukushima, Japan. Well, at least she can’t be president because she isn’t Black!
As for Leahy, may he follow Inoye sooner rather than later. He is Harry Reid II!
