Cerberus to sell gunmaker Freedom Group after U.S. school shooting

U.S. private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management said on Tuesday it will immediately begin selling its investment in gunmaker Freedom Group in light of last week's school shooting in Connecticut.

Cerberus acquired Bushmaster in 2006 and later merged it with other gun companies to create Freedom Group, which reported net sales of $677.3 million for the nine months ending September 2012, up from $564.6 million in the same period a year ago.

Bushmaster is the manufacturer of the AR 15 rifle used by the shooter in the Newtown killings that claimed 27 lives, including 20 school children.

"We do not believe that Freedom Group or any single company or individual can prevent senseless violence or the illegal use or procurement of firearms and ammunition," Cerberus said in a statement.

And Remington is just one of the companies that FGI/Cerberus has trashed. The Marlin line has become a quality control joke (they shut down 1894 production because of it), Barnes can't seem to fill an order correctly, DPMS is even worse than it was, etc.

More proof that if you let a "Conglomo" touch something, it will eventually turn to excrement.

(Federalizing is the government equivalent.)

Uh.. unless my calculator broke that's a 20% Profit (19.96%) and if I was a major shareholder, investor, I'd be pretty ticked. Like Talk to my LAWYER ticked as their profit is only going to go UP now thanks to all the DemonRATS caterwauling about massive new gun control (cough) 'laws'.

And If I was someone with assets like Mitt Romney, or Glenn Beck (he's got some very RICH friends), I'd be looking to maybe get into the buying mode. Or better still the evil billionaire Koch Bros buy it! THAT would drive the Moonbats over the edge.

I don’t see a magazine in the rifle, I see what appears to be a hand grip on the stock. I also see the LEO is working the action from the right side of the receiver. That would be inconsistent with an AR-15 style rifle which has it’s charging handle on the top rear of the upper receiver and would be worked by pulling to the rear over top of the buttstock, not from the front of the receiver.

So, that could be a semi-auto shotgun (like a Saiga with an AK style receiver) or any other numerous semi-auto shotguns with a pistol grip buttstock added.

I saw his presser live; it was awful.

There are so many inconsistent “facts” out there, that it’s pathetic and very confusing.

I don’t see an AR-15 magazine in any frame in that vid; look at the size of the round he jacks-out. It looks larger than a .223/5.56... just saying.

Article says it was a shotgun:

Who knows?

With due respect, your information is old.

Use your preferred search engine with a phrase or two such as "lanza shot with bushmaster." Or "lanza shot with long rifle."

You'll find it's been three days since Chief Medical Examiner Dr. H Wayne Carver and the police identified the AR-15 as the weapon that Lanza used to kill the victims, and the Sig to kill himself.

That is what Rush said yesterday... that the police reports say the shooting was done with two 9mm’s. Rush also said EVERYTHING that they reported in the first 24 hours was ALL lies.

I am not sure that what is understood to be the intent of Cerberus is what is planned.

It may turn out a bit different.

The two pistols were found inside the school and a .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle was found in the back of his mother’s car in the parking lot.

“The damage these weapons can do is just horrific,” firearms expert Ronald Scott said.

All three are highly lethal weapons manufactured for combat and to stop criminals. The semi-automatic Glock and SIG Sauer are the two most popular firearms used by law enforcement officers around the country and by private gun owners, said Scott.

Hey Scoutmaster, have you ever heard of Fahmi Malick? Evidently not.

I’ve found several of these reports.

- - -

[Updated at 6:51 p.m. ET] A law enforcement official familiar with the investigation says the three guns found at the shooting site were legally purchased by Nancy Lanza, the mother of the suspect in the shooting.

According to the law enforcement official, the Glock and Sig Sauer handguns were found inside the school with the deceased gunman. The Bushmaster was found in a car outside the school. The official did not know if the car was registered to the gunman, to his mother or to someone else.

The official echoed what other law enforcement officials have told CNN: That Adam Lanza was the suspected gunman, and that he died at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

The medical examiner may be top notch. When a guy starts his presentation by stating he’s been on the job for a third of a century, it does tweak my radar. Most people would say 33 years, unless they were trying to impress somebody.

This place is a little berg. I’m remaining uncommitted on the location and use of the AR-15 at this point.

Cerebus is one of the most dodgy PE firms around. These PE’s are the foot soldiers of the NWO! I imagine their masters have ordered that the gun mfg’ers investments must be disguised.

Did the shooter have the Bushmaster inside the school or not? It seems like an easy question, but we hear all sorts of different answers. Sources to not even agree as to the number of weapons.

The only possible explanation is that the facts are being spun for maximum political gain. The image of little kids being executed with a powerful "assault weapon" is far more useful to the regime than if they were executed with garden-variety handguns. If I sound cynical, I am.

Was the Bushmaster registered to the dead mother?

She was dead. Did she have a gun safe and trigger locks? Do we absolutely know the source for the guns? The ammo?

The truth?

H3ll, he might even have been offed by police for all we absolutely know.

Had that principal or nurse been armed, this all would have been completely different.

I agree, and stated it in a thread soon after the incident.
The narrative was changed to fit the agenda...painting a massacre with an “assault weapon”. Too many inconsistent stories coming out, and I don’t put much credence in the ME’s conclusion. He was told what to say, it’s quite clear to me.

The media has been vague and contradictory about the location of the AR. Early stories all referenced handguns as the shoter's weapons. Later stories began to discuss a "rifle."

I am forced to conclude that the facts are being spun.

Palmer, I wasn’t convinced it was a shotgun. I did think I saw a magazine on the weapon once it was turned away from the camera, and you could see it bottom to top on it’s side.

A person above made some comments about clearing the weapon that made pretty good sense. You may want to check that out since it concurs with your take on it.
