Durbin Calls for “Reasonable” Gun Restrictions

Following the second-worst mass shooting in American history, US Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said hunters and sportsmen need to "step up."

He urged them to support what he called "reasonable restrictions" on the types of weapons that can be purchased and on large ammunition magazines.

Durbin said average citizens don't need access to the kind of military-style equipment used by the gunman in Newtown, CT.

"I'm told that he was wearing body armor at the time. A question I have to ask: Why in the world does anyone need to buy body armor? I can see where the military would. I can see where the police would,” Durbin said.

“But when an average citizen buys body armor, you think, what kind of things are you protecting yourself against here?"

Durbin also said Illinois should be careful in responding to a court order mandating the state allow civilians to carry firearms in public.

He says the law should contain safeguards, such as a requirement that people undergo training before getting a carry permit.

Part of the New York mindset is a false sense of superiority. Since they're "superior" to those of us in "fly over country" why then they have every right to determine how we should live - at least in their minds. I lived there for a time, and I found them on average to be not particularly intelligent, close minded, and smug.

New Yorkers are like plague rats. They ruin where they live and then spread out to other stated carrying their filth of liberal ideas with them. They've thoroughly screwed up Florida, and they'd screw up Georgia too if enough of them moved here. Even years ago one of the main anti-gun agitators here was a woman from - you guessed it - NY. She moved back.

I call on Durbin to actually read the laws of his own state.

Body armor control?
Has Durbin exhibited signs of early dementia before?
Is he getting a reputation for soiling himself, like Teddy Kennedy?

I swear these people are staying in congress WAY past their expiration date. Have you heard some of Hank Johnson’s blather? Not only was he worried about Guam capsizing, now he is going on about the “M” word — all concerned about the word (dare I say it?) “midget.”

It looks like 20% of these people are in the early stages of dementia or altzheimers. In Nazi Pelosi’s case, Botox poisoning.

Frog: “Bloomie is on Charlie Rose right now talking about gun control.”

Do you mean the Charlie Rose that blamed the Aurora CO theater shooting on a “tea party member,” slandering that individual by name before anything was actually known? That Charlie Rose?

Makes me wonder if it really *is* time to “drop anchor.”
