The Dead Soul of Adam Lanza
Townhall.com ^ | December 18, 2012 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 12/17/2012 9:21:29 PM PST by Kaslin

"No set of laws can eliminate evil from the world, or prevent every senseless act of violence in our society."

So said President Obama in words of comfort in Newtown. The president was right to speak of evil, but mistaken when he called the massacre "senseless."

For this was a premeditated and purposeful act of mass murder, and the devil that did it knew exactly what he was doing and why.

When he put four bullets into his mother's head while she lay in bed, Adam Lanza wanted her life ended along with his. When he headed for Sandy Hook Elementary, with the Glocks and Bushmaster rifle, he knew he would encounter no armed resistance.

Before he went into that school to shoot 20, 30 or 40 children, barely more than babies, he knew his slaughter would be so stomach-turning and heart-wrenching that the TV crews would come running.

And by day's end, the world would know who Adam Lanza was.

Lanza kept firing at the children until he heard the sirens. Then he pulled out one of the Glocks, put it to his head and ended it, knowing he was on his way to becoming world famous.

Just as Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold of Columbine are famous. Just as James Holmes, the "Joker" of the Aurora "Dark Knight Rising" massacre, is famous. Just as Jared Lee Loughner, the Tucson mass murderer who shot Gabby Giffords, is famous.

A desire to be famous coupled with a dead conscience is the common thread running through these recurring atrocities. These loners and losers want us to know who they are. And, to succeed now, each almost has to outdo in horror those who went before.

Since the news first came in Friday from Newtown, we have argued about guns in America and mental illness, but heard little about the moral sickness of our society.

Americans have always owned guns. But in Prohibition, when gangsters like John Dillinger, "Machine Gun" Kelly and "Baby Face" Nelson were notorious, the most remembered atrocity was the "St. Valentine's Day Massacre." Al Capone's gang executed seven of Bugs Moran's gang in a Chicago garage.

Yet, just two years ago, when one Washington, D.C., drive-by shooting ended with four dead on a sidewalk and five wounded, it was just local news.

Why are these atrocities growing more frequent and deadly?

We are told that it is because the guns used -- especially assault rifles like Russian-made AK-47s and civilian copies of the M-16 used in Vietnam, like the Bushmaster -- are all too available.

But the guns used in the Sandy Hook massacre were legally purchased by Lanza's mother, and she and Adam lived in a state with some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

And the Bushmaster is not a machine gun but a semi-automatic, as are the 100-year-old Colt .45 and M-1 rifle used by GIs in World War II. Fully automatic weapons like the Thompson submachine gun cannot be purchased without a federal license. No fully automatic weapon has been used in any of these massacres.

Will ending all sales and transfers of assault rifles and limiting the rounds in clips and magazines reduce these massacres in malls, movie theaters and schools? Did it succeed when the assault weapons ban was in force in the Clinton years?

If assault rifles are evil things that ought not be in the hands of decent Americans, why do "shoot-to-kill" video games feature these weapons?

Why does Hollywood glamorize assault rifles in action-packed films of slaughter starring Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and Jason Statham?

Few of America's young have seen an assault weapon fired outside the military. Scores of millions have seen them fired on TV. Many of our movies are advertisements for the efficiency of assault weapons in the hands of good guys doing heroic deeds.

Are the folks who think America would be a better place with a more restrictive Second Amendment willing to restrict the First Amendment to stop all distribution of movies and cable shows that depict famous actors blasting enemies with assault weapons?

Not long ago, there existed in our hearts "a fear of God."

How, we would ask ourselves, if we commit an evil act like murder, will we answer at God's judgment seat? For He will decide if we enter what the president called in Newtown, God's "eternal house in heaven."

But if God is dead, not to worry. Just put the gun to your head and pull the trigger, and it's over. No trial. No disgrace. No prison. Nothing to worry about anymore.

No voice of conscience told Adam: Do not do this evil thing! Now he is no longer a nobody, a nerd, a recluse. He is famous. Everybody is talking about him, and ruminating on what might have motivated him.

Adam wanted to be somebody. And now he is.

And out there others like him are thinking: That could be me.

May they take his devil’s corpse and feed it to feral hogs. He doesn’t deserve a grave or to be remembered. Just let him become pig poop. A fitting end for a monster.

There is no culture or corner of the world where killing a roomful of babies for its own sake is ok. Nazi germany did because they considered Jewish children not human. Same with Palestinian terrorists. But this guy didnt even kill his enemy’s children. He just killed children. It’s not forgivable anywhere this side of hell - and probably not even there.

Yes, Adam Lanza’s terrible act showed he was an evil, heartless self-centered sub human who slaughtered children in a place good people expect to be nurturing and safe in order to get media attention.

A follow on horror is now using that same act and those same dead near infants to cynically sell another selfish agenda. Obama is pushing more government control, less individual responsibility and that big government can better run your life, my life and the lives of Americans yet born.

He says All American society is sick, all parents, even those who have raised good children or are trying to parent in a good way are inadequate so big government needs to do that job. Only Adam Lanza was the monster, yet Obama is spinning the lie it was all of us, our guns, our miss-parenting, our lack of sensitivity to others less well off, less smart or less mentally sound. Through platitudes and media assistance, he is leveraging those children’s deaths into another unconstitutional ObamaCare expansion of government intrusion and regulation of our lives.

Has anyone wondered if Lanza was a copycat of the Oregon shooter??? All that publicity might have been too hard to resist.

Obama encourages copycat massacres every time he goes onsite and makes public speeches. Arizona, Colorado, and last-night’s 20 minute, nationwide speech.

Every evil nut-job in the country wants Obama talking to the nation about them.

There is no culture or corner of the world where killing a roomful of babies for its own sake is ok.

You reminded me of:

Dev 25.17-19

17. Remember what Amalek did to you by the way, when you came forth out of Egypt:
18. How he met you by the way, and struck at your rear, all who were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God:
19. Therefore it shall be, when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies around, in the land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance to possess, that you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget it:

Well Josh Sugar-man has had a little success with his scheme (I could not find the date, but it was before the AW ban):

"Assault weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons --anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun-- can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons."

Josh Sugarmann, Violence Policy Center (VPC).

Or in the Old Testament where God commands the Israelites to kill everyone including the children (read Deut. 7:1-2,20:16-17 and Joshua for details). Also John Chivington, Indian fighter, who said “nits make lice” and to get big and small scalps alike.

So the lefscum want to abrogate a part of the Bill of Rights? OK. Let's amend the First Amendment to state that the name of any person who commits murder shall be replaced with a number in any and all records, reports, and “news” stories. No photo, no name, just a number. Maybe add a tag such as “loser,” “subhuman,” or “animal.” As in “Animal 231.”

What, too radical? Far less than the current push to disarm the law abiding and spread the killing fields of “no gun zones” to every part of the entire nation...

———but heard little about the moral sickness of our society.-——

It happened in the immoral or un moral or decadent progressive sewer of Connecticut. Panels of experts on the news delivered self serving epistles that relieved their profession from blame. If there had only been........ more of our remedy the tragedy might have been averted. The relief recommended was more garbageous liberal nonsense. More application of the complete freedom from anything moral that has been developed over tens of thousands of years.

The murders resulted from complete liberal restraint. A mother knowing her kid was a semiwacko defended him from any effort to guard against jumping off the deep end.

Ha ha!

THIS 'culture' we live in thinks it's ok to kill babies before they get born; for it is LEGAL to do so.

Nazi germany did because they considered Jewish children not human

Need I REALLY elaborate here about a mere mass of tissue?

The murders resulted from complete liberal restraint.

One young man killed his mother that day; while approximately 46 'mothers' killed their child before it could be born that day: just in Connecticutt alone.

Nationwide, over 2,700 'mothers' CHOSE to do the same.

There is such a thing as "reaping what you sow"...

Yaelle, you said....There is no culture or corner of the world where killing a roomful of babies for its own sake is ok

I disagree with you..... although I too have been mourning those little kiddoes....

....there are few cultures anymore that have a problem killing rooms full of babies...

..the culture of death in our own country is taken for granted.

Who could ever conceive a toll of 50 million dead babies allowed & funded by America....

I saw a picture yesterday on the web of Obama surrounded by young children of the grieving parents...brothers and sisters.....I read about the principal (who they say ran toward the gunman)....

Her daughter said she would be proud that President Obama was holding her grandchild!

I ask you and anyone else............what kind of schizophrenic disassociation do these people have that celebrate Obama holding the grandchild of the dead principal.....and smiling siblings of dead children gathered around Obama for a photo op!!!!??????

No doubt, no doubt....many of these same parents and teachers voted for him.

Someone please help me with this answer!

Obama is the most ruthless supporter of abortion on demand (Federally funded of course) that we have ever had......He has no qualms about abortion up to the last minute, before that child draws breath)

What hideous head games are people capable of who idolize this man.....and mourn their children all at the same time......and don't see any connection?!!

The canaanites were a death cult that threw their own children into fire and had pledged to exterminate Israel.

Would you spare a community that nuked part of America and pledged to destroy the rest?

Only a moron who should suck his own exhaust pipe would compare what Lanza did to quotes from the Bible.

I understand that...........but there is really no difference.

We have ...over the past 40 years....allowed the mindset of our nation to accept the sanction of killing our unborn.

This loon on Friday just took it to another level........

...and be sure, there are other loons out there who are watching this unfold.

Even law enforcement knows this could happen again, because one loon has done the unthinkable.

Loons get their jollies in one upmanship and the publicity of bigger & more hellish.

My grandchild's teacher is 'terrified'...........

Our guard must be up at all times.

We don't need gun control........we need armed principals or teachers in every school.
