IIRC, there was a mention on Yahoo where I originally saw the story.

Surely not the killing of 20 young children and six women.

Is that a straw man argument or a red herring? Or both? I can't always keep the two types of false logic tactics separate. In any case it's the logic of a child who can't debate on an adult level.

Madison meant Second Amendment to allow guns at least normal on the battlefield: today, that’s full auto M16s.

I sent this to the NRA earlier today:

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I am one of your ILA volunteers here in Pennsylvania. I am also retired from the marketing communications field and I do stay current on a variety of issues both national and international.

Aside from the latest tragedy in Connecticut and the predictable meme we will hear from the gun-grabbers and media, one of the subtle messages that the left has successfully implanted in the narrative is that guns are used primarily for hunting and target practice. The latest carrier of this message is Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

The elephant in the room that no one, including the NRA, has had the courage to publically vocalize is that the Second Amendment isn’t about deer hunting. It’s about a free people having the tools that it needs not only for individual self-defense in the home or elsewhere, but to protect itself against a tyrannical government.

I submit that what you will see, and are seeing now, is a concerted global effort to disarm the American people. Our enemies, including China and Iran, are already calling on the liberal Marxists in our government to effect a national disarmament.

As a local spokesperson for the NRA, I would like to see the NRA get in front of this issue and provide people in the field like myself with an intelligent, coherent message that we can take to our Congressional representatives, and let them know that we will not stand by peacefully and let the federal government destroy our 2nd Amendment rights.

Approval of Congress and politicians in general is at an all-time low. We have a struggling economy with a lot of people out of work. Our nation as a whole is virtually spiritually bankrupt, as evidenced by the leaders we have chosen.

If the NRA is going to be relevant in the days to come, I suggest you begin to get a coherent plan together to change the dangerous discourse that is flooding the media and beginning to turn public opinion against gun owners.

The Constitution was not written on a word processer or a computer!
I’ll give up guns when “Journalists” do their reporting with quill pens!
God forbid letting Bob Costas rant his lament at half time.

The First Amendment was never intended to allow 24-hour corp/gov infotainaganda to be beamed directly into people’s pockets, either.

The blood has been flowing for quite some time. I am pro-gun but they should not available over the Internet or without background checks. I had to go through far more nonsense to rent an apt then to buy a gun.

Have you tried Pepto Bismal? My stomach must be stronger than yours.

The people at Christian Science Monitor must be stupid.

Most of us already know why the Founders insisted on the 2nd. Amendment.

To insure we were citizens, not slaves of the Government.
To protect ourselves and our families.
To join with our military in any incursion of this country.

Would the government use nukes? Yes. They would.

Where would they use a nuke? A blue city killing mostly their own supporters? Out in the countryside killing almost no one?

I can read vacuous stupidity if it's well written, or even if it provides a challenging if ultimately deceptive argument. If it's just more useless regurgitation of worn out arguments by useful idiots what is the point of bothering? It's like eating hot food. I can eat really hot food, but if it doesn't otherwise taste good what is the point?

Forget the Bushmaster (alleged assault) weapon. He could have killed just as many with the two handguns he brought that day. So are the media-commies wanting to ban handguns?

The Bushmaster AR-15 was found in the trunk of his car. The two handguns were the sole instruments used.

What you say is just not the truth. Any commercially purchased firearm must be sold with an FFL form 4473 filled out and NCIC and FBI do background checks on every sale. Sales of firearms between individuals is the sale of private property and should remain between the buyer and seller.

There are NO Internet sales of firearms to individuals. One must have an FFL holder act as the shipper for the seller to ship the firearm to the buyer and they must also send the weapon to another Federally Licensed Firearms dealer... who then fills out an FFL form 4473 and has the background check run on the purchaser before any weapon is delivered..

You might have used that apartment for a meth lab, or a brothel with underage sex slaves, or to publish and disseminate seditious literature promoting small government and individual liberties...
