I’m afraid we are the cul-de-sac.

You use a portion of a chapter which goes on to say “6 But a brother who has a cause at law against another takes it before Gentile judges. 7 More than this, it is not to your credit to have causes at law with one another at all. Why not put up with wrong? why not undergo loss? 8 So far from doing this, you yourselves do wrong and take your brothers’ property.”

Which is an exhortation to refrain from suing one another
in a court of law. It encourages that perhaps we can settle our differences as Christians, among ourselves, by giving up a little.

An affliction can happen in the brain. It can manifest in many ways. Think how difficult it is to think during a migraine which is a physical manifestation of something wrong. How much more difficult to think if your brain is experiencing a chemical imbalance?

Yes, in the Old Testament, we were under the law and had to know the law in order to detect evil and put it from us.

Now we have Christ and his spirit that transforms us and intercedes for us that evil is put away from us.

Is not Christ the shepherd and does he not seek each and every lost sheep? Not just the good and pretty ones, but Every lost sheep.

Think you, that ALL lost sheep are redeemed?

that Jesus came to do away with the Law ?

A wise man one said in a meeting I attended in person:

Sin is the breaking of God's law.
Repenting of sin means being sorry you have broken God's law.
If you are sorry, it means you do not intend breaking His law any further!
Let's illustrate it this way:
You live in a society which must be regulated according to various laws.
There are federal, state, county and local laws which regulate practically every act and deed.
Whether we are speaking here of federal laws, civil codes or simply traffic laws, the same principle applies.

You are required in order to retain your freedom and your citizenship to obey the laws of our country.
If you break some of them, it may only require a fine or a very small penalty, or even a warning, and you will be allowed to remain free.

Breaking others can be far more serious.
Grand theft, larceny, arson, robbery, burglary, auto theft or murder could get you thrown behind bars
(not withstanding the terrible laxity of the courts today).

Let's suppose you have done precisely this.

Maybe, caught up in an emotional state with wrong companions, you perpetrate some act which is clearly against the law.
Let's assume you are arrested and in due time brought to trial.
But, during the trial, just as the judge has imposed upon you a terrific fine which you would never be able to pay— say, a million dollars—
a completely unknown stranger, your benefactor, stands and says,
"Your honor, I believe this man is seriously contrite.
I believe he got caught up in the emotion of the moment and was under the influence of some evil companions.
I feel he is a man of integrity and wishes truly to mend his ways and live a better life.

"Therefore, I am willing to pay his fine myself so he can go free, and he doesn't need to pay this penalty!"

Although it probably wouldn't happen in our society, it does illustrate the point.
The judge (as a type of God the Father) would say to the benefactor (who is a type of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for our own sins),
"That will be fine!
You may step up and pay the court $1 million and we will write on the court records
that the man who has been accused is free to go."

Then the judge may look at you, the person who has been arrested, tried and sentenced, and say,
"You are free to go.
But don't ever get caught up in that kind of a situation again!"

Do you see?

You are required, as a citizen of a free country, to obey its laws, or else

In the case of God's divine laws, you are required, whether you know about them or not (ignorance of the law is no excuse), whether you are a Christian, a professing Christian or whatever, to obey God's Ten Commandments.

Though people by the millions freely break the Ten Commandments every single day, they are unknowingly coming under the penalty of the law, which is death! (Romans 6:23).

When you repent, you are saying to God you are deeply sorry you have broken His laws.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth as the counsel for the defense says to God, the Righteous Judge, that He believes in your profession of repentance
and is willing to allow His own sacrifice to be applied in your case!

Then, just as Jesus said to the woman taken in the very act of adultery, God will say the same thing to you,
"Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no more!"


True repentance, then, means
being deeply sorry you have broken God's Ten Commandments,
resolving through the power of God's Holy Spirit and the help of Jesus Christ as your daily High Priest and Intercessor,
not to break the Ten Commandments henceforth.

Don't fall into Satan's deception of believing that God's Laws , The Ten Commandments are done away with.

It may be a matter of personality. I LIKE simple. I like black and white. I like minimalism. So much of what people call "color" and "complexity" just looks like frills and drama to me.

I certainly understand your desire to have the world be one way. Just remember a desire is not a proof. My original objection was not that you are not religious, but that you are closed to the possibility that you may be wrong.

I may be wrong, but I don't think being closed minded is a virtue.

OK--so you're not quite the rational being you think you are. You stop looking when you think you have an answer that may satisfy you. That type of approach, while quite popular, is not the definition of rationality, nor of a seeker of truth.

Also remember--what is legal may not always be right.

Because once you start trying to describe or explain God and His workings, you generally have to admit that He is Unknowable, that mere humans cannot explain how He came to be, how He does what he does, why He does what he does. Sooner or later you have to admit “I don’t know” (usually rephrased as “God works in mysterious ways” or “I know because it’s in the Bible” or “I feel it in my heart” or “There must be a reason.”) Sooner or later the answer, boiled down to its honest bones is “I don’t really know.”

That is all correct.

The same goes for the non-God viewpoint. In the words of Douglas Adams--"First there was nothing--then it exploded." Doesn't really explain anything either.

The difference, though, is that I am more than open to the probability/possibility of God while you do not seem to be.

No, I see no reason to be "open" to the "revelations" made to a tiny handful of Middle Eastern men (and only to them, strangely enough) from several thousand years ago.

I am also not "open" to the Scientologists.

Laws are for governments in a fallen world. It is what it is. It is as it should be.

Well, according to Christ’s words, he seeks redemption of the one that is lost and will leave the 99 in order to bring the one back into the fold.

Jesus fulfilled the law. He became the sacrifice to reconcile us to God. His yoke is easy and his burden is light, says He.

Romans 8, in it’s entirety spells out the fullness of God’s love and his Spirit at work in us. Ending with, “37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,m neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Oh, man. THAT is some love. Why do you want to say that poor, wretched, miserable, suffering, mentally debilitated young man that God is not big enough to love him?

When I read the link you posted about how some of the lost sheep are redeemed, I don’t understand your point. The passage describes a scene in which Satan gathers every evil and surrounds believers.

Then “and fire came downfrom God out of heaven, and devouredthem.10And the devil that deceivedthem was castinto the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormentedday and night for ever and ever.”

Which, to me, sounds like a happy ending in Revelations for believers. God’s people are saved and evil is cast into the fiery pit eternally. It makes me want to rejoice.

Isn't this ALWAYS "the excuse" psychiatrists use to get us to feel sorry for these murderers?
Show me a psychiatrists that believes our Heavenly Father, and His Son Jesus.
Have you forgotten how psychiatrists are a critical part of HOW Communists IMPLEMENT their 45 COMMUNIST GOALS (From The Congressional Record, Jan. 10, 1963)
