There could even be a connection between drug laws and drug use proliferation. Before Henry Anslinger started his campaign against marijuana its use was pretty much restricted to Mexican laborers and jazz musicians. His campaign was successful, his small agency – the Bureau of Narcotics, a part of the Treasury Department – was slated for closing. Now it’s the DEA.
After marijuana was made illegal it became the big thing to use for adolescent rebellion.
