Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has proposed that oral contraceptives should be available to all women without a prescription or doctor’s examination in an op-ed that has drawn praise from Planned Parenthood and condemnation from some in the pro-life movement.

He called a new report from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), calling for oral contraceptives to be sold over-the-counter, “a common-sense call for reform.”

separating procreation from sex has led to every single social pathology that plagues us.

Gee, I never thought of my marriage which separated procreation from sex from the get-go as contributing to "every single social pathology that plagues us." Interesting.

You see, I started out the marriage with a vasectomy, which certainly totally separated sex from procreation. And, you know, I am wondering what social pathology I contributed to. Please explain...it's beyond my understanding.

...it's beyond my understanding.

That appears to be exactly right.

“it’s beyond my understanding” was a kind expression to denote that Houghton’s broad and preposterous generality makes no damn sense at all. I knew what he was getting at and I don’t like it.

I agree. Although I don’t really have a problem with them being treated like anti-biotics.

All of that might be true with regard to societal breakdown, but do you really think that it is the state’s job to fix and regulate people’s lives to correct it? If so, how does that make you a conservative, and how are you different from Michelle Obama telling us what to eat?

This will make it very difficult for Jindal to get any traction in the 2016 GOP primary. Unless, of course he is trying to be the establishment choice in case neither Jeb nor fatboy run.

Another possibility is to allowed the manufacturers to set the rules of their sale. They could stipulate that the sale is contiguent upon prescription by a doctor. You know, the freedom of owners to control their property. Works for me.

Weird how many alleged conservatives on FR become statists when it suits them.

Maybe you should only be able to buy guns with a doctor’s permission, too, huh?
