Thousands of people are killed every year in small cars when they get hit by much bigger and taller vehicles. So are liberals calling for a ban on small cars? Of course not. Instead they’re implementing much tighter fuel efficiency standards that will make cars smaller and lighter and even more dangerous to drive if the car companies don’t make a major effort to design stronger structural components made with high-strength materials. The focus on gun control is irrational, when many more people are killed in traffic accidents every year. If the government wants to stop gun violence without infringing on our rights and leaving us unarmed in a nation filled with armed criminals, then start a program to publicize the need to lock up guns securely at home. That will stop these awful incidents when young kids shoot each other.

I have had to show my driver's license and fill out a questionaire, and pay for and submit to a federal background check for every firearm that I own.

I’m not trying to be a jerk, although I’m sure you will accuse me of that ...but are there any measures to keep a psychotic from buying guns?

If you have been involuntarliy admitted to a hospital for the purposes of mental health, you cannot buy a firearm. If you have been found to have PTSD, you cannot buy a firearm nor can you possess one.

Once again, this killer did not buy any of the firearms used. No law would have or could have prevented this from happening. There were laws against everything he did, yet he still did everything he did.

You continue to fail to address to root cause of this massacre WHICH IS THAT SCHOOLS ARE DEFENSELESS BECAUSE OF IDIOT LIBERALS AND THEIR IDIOT LAWS, so I can only assume that your eventual goal is to create more herds of defenseless sheep to be slaughtered by wolves, because you feel like you need to do something that not only is meaningless, it is dangerous.

I suggest that you wake up. You are not helping anything, you are hurting.

If you want children in schools to be safe, then defend the schools. All day, every day, year in, year out. That's all, nothing else.

I think this lady was in deep denial. Kinda like people who own wild chimps or pitbulls. There’s reports in the British press folks knew he was really disturbed. I don’t doubt them. No one has rage li8ke this without showing some red flags.

I’m going to say something no one on this site wants to hear DO...this is a watershed moment for gun control. If someone wants a gun buy it now. The 2nd amendment is going to be amended.

Many mass-murderers kill themselves or give themselves up without challengin armed responders because they don't want to suffer grevious wounds, prolonged recuperation after extensive surgery, or life imprisonment while confined to a wheelchair. That is why these cowards choose to attack the unarmed and helpless in gun-free-zones.

The second amendment won’t be amended. That’s not going to happen. Most of the state legislatures have to approve a constitutional amendment and that’s not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

A drunk driver killed 26 people when he drove the wrong way on I-71 in Kentucky and hit a schoolbus, back in the 1980s I think it was. I think most of those killed were children but older than the ones killed yesterday in Connecticut. Of course the driver didn't intend to do it, but his victims were still dead. Having laws against driving drunk didn't stop him.

Adam Lanza may have killed more children deliberately yesterday than the 9/11 terrorists did--there were a few children on the planes which were hijacked, but the people in the Twin Towers and the Pentagon at the time were virtually all adults--were as many as 20 children among the victims on 9/11?

Before that you have to go back to the attack on the Branch Davidian compound in 1993...but Bill Clinton wasn't pulling the trigger at close range to kill the children like Adam Lanza was. I don't know what the breakdown was for the Oklahoma City bombings, how many were children and how many adults.
