Nancy Lanza Not a Teacher?
TPM ^ | 12/14/12 | Josh Marshall

There have been a lot of factual errors in the chaotic rush to get details about today’s shooting in Connecticut. But one fact that seemed established across the board was that victim Nancy Lanza, the mother of alleged shooter Adam Lanza, was a teacher at the Sandy Hook Elementary School — specifically that it was her class that Adam Lanza massacred.

But this story just out in the Journal suggests that’s not true.

Oddly, it’s buried down at the bottom of the story, almost as an afterthought …

A former school board official in Newtown called into question earlier reports that Nancy Lanza had been connected to Sandy Hook Elementary School, possibly as part of the teaching staff.

“No one has heard of her,” said Lillian Bittman, who served on the local school board until 2011. “Teachers don’t know her.”

“...otherwise I really doubt the school would have buzzed the shooter in.”

Depends upon what the procedure for “buzzing” someone in is. Usually a place will eyeball you and if you look okay, buzz you in as far as the Office so you can state your reason for being there. If that’s the case with this school, it was far enough.

[The coin shop I used to frequent was like this - you’d buzz the main door and if the guy recognzied you or you looked safe he’d open the door. Of course, if you turned out to be a bad guy he was packing a .45 with other goodies hidden around the place.]

...but maybe he felt that his mother cared more about those children in that school then him...

SB. Today, I tried to figure out what the heck this guy was thinking. I had this same exact thought.

One station said there was a lot of glass where the shooter smashed or shot his way in.

Not so sure about that. Newtown is the kind of place where if an ordinary looking person showed up, they’d be admitted, because nothing like that ever happened there before. Obviously that will change, now, but if he didn’t look like an obvious gang banger, or a wild eyed loon (which he turned out to be), they probably just figured he was someone’s older brother, bringing forgotten lunch money. Supposedly, the rifle remained in the trunk of the car. Not saying it’s right, but I could see how it happened, that he bypassed a brand new system, that nobody had been properly trained on. Thanks.

The theory we both have would make sense if this woman taught at the school, otherwise I have no clue why this guy chose that school, or any school..I can’t get into the mind of a demented evil piece of crap..I can try but I just can’t do it. Someone who can shoot a 5 year old, the same age as my little cousin Alaina, I just can’t imagine that kind of evil

Just an aside....
How does a principal married to a school nurse afford to raise racehorses and golf at the country club?

Boy...these school unions are robbing us blind!!

The only thing relevant to the MSM is that the shooter must have been a Tea Party member who listens to Rush and Beck, belongs to the NRA, and attends church regularly. Whatever is discovered after this pronouncement is irrelevant, even if factually correct.

You can’t makea schoola fortress. All kinds of people have legitimate reasons for going in and outof schools allthe time. Supply deliveries, USPS, UPS, FedEx, plumbers, electricians, sales people, janitorial staff, parents getting their sick kid, other parents bringing Johnny back from his doctor appointment, etc., etc., people in and out all day long. What you need is armed staff members (trained of course).

"Does anyone know what king of guns this evil SOB used?"

This is from an article I read. "At least three guns were found - a Glock and a Sig Sauer, both pistols, inside the school, and a .223-caliber rifle in the back of a car, authorities said."

They also said that these guns belonged to the mother. Heck of a lot of good it did her to own all those guns (that is if she did)as the news media get things so screwed up.

Ditto here. I supposed that she was trying to kick him out of the house or something. Maybe she talked about the kids a lot, and this got to him. It seems as though his motive was simple, maybe infantile. It’s the extremity of his action that is hard to understand, but I can kind of see it. It’s just because it was so outrageous that it appealed to him. He wanted to show everyone how he felt.

In Israel it’s a different life, the teachers are armed..you see them carrying their rifles..when I was in Israel I saw women who were Israeli soldiers carrying rifles throughout the mall..seeing people armed in Israel is a way of life..people need the right to carry their weapons in order to prevent tragedies like this..if teachers don’t want to be armed, fine..but have a guard outside of the school..a retired police officer or a security guard
