Why doesn’t the UN just vote to take over AT&T? Or how about taking over Microsoft? Standard Oil?

Just why would the den of criminals (the un) be allowed to “take over” anything? Most there are useless representatives of tyrannies. Also, for example, didn’t albania do a lot to develop and nurture the internet? They deserve a voice in running it. Not likely.

I suspect they will try at some point in the future.

Our would-be global masters are practitioners of what the late George Putnam referred to as “Fabian Socialism”.
