LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Legislature gave final approval Tuesday to a bitterly contested right-to-work plan limiting the power of unions, a devastating and once unthinkable defeat for organized labor in a state considered a cradle of the movement.
Unswayed by Democrats' pleas and thousands of protesters inside and outside the state Capitol, the House approved two final bills, sending them on to Republican Gov. Rick Snyder. One dealt with private sector workers, the other with government employees. Both measures cleared the Senate last week.

Not only are the union goons unhappy, the Food Stamp President has expressed his sympathy to his union butt buddies.
Unions have long outlived their usefulness, and are partly responsible for destroying a lot of the American manufacturing base. The chickens have come home to roost, and the goons are just going to have to suck it up and get real jobs.

In order to be a proper Liberal you now need to believe that allowing a worker a choice is a violation of his right of choice.
That violence is acceptable in order to preserve the worker’s right to not be able to choose if he wants to be in a Union.

the Tea Party needs the Sons of Liberty—to protect the peaceful Tea Party when attacked. The Media will not publish these attacks by thugs—so most Americans will not even know what happened. We need a sort of guard group—who will not strike first— but will end any fight when it starts. Some ex-seals, Rangers, Bikers etc...

Looking at that bunch, I wonder how many played hookey from work to go protest.
The whole lot of them should be fired.
24-26 states already have this and are seeing growth in their manufacturing sectors.
It’s amazing that anyone is so stupid that they can’t be bothered to look beyond their own back yard and ask, “Does this work in other states?” Even more amazing that you’re such a bigot that you think that violence is the answer to this problem.

This is truly devastating to the democrats. Michigan unions pump nearly a quarter billion dollars into national democrat campaigns every year.
They don’t even look beyond their backyard. They say they have...but then lie about it. I hear it from liberals; they just lie. This is where we are. Yes liberals have been full of untruths and none of us are 100% right all the time but these people have decided that facts mean nothing. Facts mean nothing, just make it up. LIE LIE LIE LIE.

That’s a telling detail that could have lasting consequences. With Republicans holding so many state legislatures, they could take many other steps to defund the left. Let’s not allow the financial crisis to go to waste!
I personally think its time to award Michigan’s electoral votes by congressional district.

As you so rightly point out, in those regions where Big Labor is a non-factor, the economy flourishes, even under Obama's regime. In particular, the South has long cherished worker freedom and liberty by keeping a close eye on union racketeers. Without the crippling workrules, archaic regulations and confiscatory wages imposed by unions, American enterprise can indeed soar to great heights. It's happened here in Dixie, the economic engine of America, and now Michigan is poised to make the next advance.

Indeed, Noamie. Conservatives and patriots now control 30 states. That’s up from 25 in 2010. Kudos to Michigan and all their good citizens for taking on the union fascists and winning. The counter-offensive against obuma and his criminal Marxist syndicate infesting Washington is starting.
Had Snyder done that no doubt something very bad would have happened...and that could have started a reaction far worse(for the state...maybe for the country).

Amazing Grace - I must admit I didn’t think that our Guv and Repub Legislators had the cahones. A new respect is blooming within.
I heard a Union guy on the radio say that employees in Right 2 Work states averaged about 3% less than in states with mandated unions. Does anyone know what % of a private sector worker’s wages go to Union dues in Michigan? What about the public unions, like Teachers? It also follows that the taxes are generally higher in the big Union states — gotta cover those generous pensions some how.
Wisconsin needs to graduate to full right-to-work. Ohio should pass right-to-work as well. Every state that does it reduces the power of the Dem party.
Maybe a whole lot of Freepers who always maintain there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats should pay attention. This took courage, just like what happened in WI.

There is plenty of case law for RTW, it’s a no go.
Secondly, the Michigan Supreme Ct. is solidly in the conservative camp.
Union dues across the country will have to go up dramatically to make up for what they’ll lose in Michigan.

The violence these “protesters” displayed today and in Madison is nothing compared to what we will see in the future.
