Mayan apocalypse: Serbia's mystic mountain targeted by believers

Hotel owners around the pyramid-shaped Mount Rtanj, in the east of the Balkan country, say that bookings are flooding in, with believers in the prophecy hoping that its purported mysterious powers will save them from the apocalypse.

Adherents of the end-of-the-world scenario think the 5,100ft-high mountain, part of the Carpathian range, conceals a pyramidal building inside, left behind by alien visitors thousands of years ago.

Arthur C Clarke, the British science fiction writer, reportedly identified the peak as a place of "special energy" and called it "the navel of the world".

Doomsday cultists believe that it emits special energy that could be channelled to protect them from the end of life as we know it.

"In one day we had 500 people trying to book rooms. People want to bring their whole families," said Obrad Blecic, a hotel manager.

My wife’s birthday is December 21, so we are going to Cancun next week to witness the end at ground zero and celebrate her birthday at the same time.

Time to run out and buy up people’s stuff who believe in this. Cheaply. But then, you’ll have to return it when they come back wanting it. Embarrassed no doubt.

Interesting. It seems that as the Human Race advances intellectually it regresses spiritually.

Soon we will be so smart we will be offering our children on the alters to Baal. Oh wait! We are already there!

IMHO, If Earth has a navel it isn’t in the Balkans. It’s most likely to be either somewhere in Iraq, where the Garden of Eden is reported to have been; or in Jerusalem, God’s favorite place on the planet. The Balkans, with it’s history of turmoil, division and unrest is more likely the anus, if one must ascribe human anatomy or physiology to the planet.

However, since everything on the planet was SPOKEN into existence out of nothing, ex nihilo; except man, who was created and sculpted out of the dust of the ground; I think the concept of Earth having a navel OR an anus or any other physioligical attribute is pretty far-fetched.

Little too unrealistic.
Imagine people from Earth travelling to another planet galaxies away then not going out and explore it in public, but rather hide in our “spaceship garage” hidden under a mountain.
And wait for some of their people to wander to our location just before an apocalyptic event happens on their planet so we can save those few inhabitants.
