Merck's charitable foundation has stopped giving money to the Boy Scouts of America. The Merck Foundation says the Boy Scouts' exclusion of gays from its ranks and leadership positions conflicts with giving guidelines and the company's nondiscrimination policy.

The foundation says it will reconsider giving money to the Boy Scouts if they change their policy on sexual orientation. Merck CEO Kenneth C. Frazier was a scout in his youth. He received the "Good Scout" Award from the Philadelphia Cradle of Liberty Boy Scout Council in June. ...

The Cradle of Liberty Council has been fighting the good fight against the Philadelphia City Council since 2003. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cradle_of_Liberty_Council_v._City_of_Philadelphia

BSA is in a "perfect storm" right now which reflects the larger cultural war in America. BSA is under assault from ...

1. Court ordered release of the ineligible (perversion) volunteer member files. This may well lead to more lawsuits against BSA. This is 1 strategy the anti-BSA crowd is using to financially break the BSA.

2. MSM is supporting BHO's agenda of crushing all things opposed to homosexual special rights. Look for BHO to resign his title of "Honorary President" of the BSA by FEB 2013 (BSA 102nd Anniversary is 2/08, Founder's (Lord Baden-Powell) Day is 2/22.)

3. In the past decade, the U.S. military has been forced by the ACLU to break its strong informal tie with the BSA because of BSA's religious declaration policy (under the guise of "separation of church and state"). Military bases can no longer charter BSA units on their property. The Army forced BSA off its Ft. A.P. Hill (VA) reservation after BSA's 2010 national jamboree. The Army started hosting the jambo there in 1980. It was held every 4 years.

4. Randall Stephenson, CEO of AT&T (and currently a member of the BSA's National (volunteer) Executive Board), pledged in 2012 to work inside BSA to change its membership policy to include homosexuals and atheists. Stephenson is expected to be selected as the BSA national president (volunteer) in 2014.

5. Pressure is increasing for more United Way chapters (~1,200 across the land) to deny funding BSA local councils (~200 across the land) because of BSA's discriminatory membership policy against open homosexuals and atheiests. ~70 local UW chapters have struck BSA from their eligible recipient rolls over the last 10 years.

6. As corporate America embraces diversity, more company human resources departments are re-writing their corporate charitable donation policies to exclude giving to non-profit groups which practice "discrimination". Zach Wahls, the 21 year-old Eagle Scout and son of 2 lesbians, founded the pansexual advocacy group, "Scouts for Equality" in 2012. He has been successful during the last 2 months in lobbying Intel Corp. and UPS to drop BSA from their approved charitable recipient list. And now, Merck Pharmaceuticals has done the same.

7. The 2nd largest Christian denomination which charters BSA units (packs, troops, crews) is the UMC. It is currently reviewing its relationship with the BSA. There is much concern that the charter organziations, i.e., primarily churches, are worried that they too may face lawsuits stemming from pedophile incidents within their sponsored units. They are concerned that they would have to acquire additional insurance to guard against potential lawsuits.

8. At some point in the near future, it would not be surprising to see the 4 mainline protestant denominations, i.e., UCC, TEC, ELCA, and PCUSA, sever their relations with BSA and stop sponsoring scouting units because these denominations are moving towards full acceptance of homosexuality in the church.

Did they funnel that money instead to the Young Pioneers or Obama Youth?

Uh, uh, no perverts allowed, start your own gay scouts of America and see how that works out for you.

Also, any Church moving towards homosexuality, is a non Christian Church and really only liberal social club.

They might just as well eat drink and be merry, not sure why they even bother attending

But YES God Bless the poor lost souls

A “nondiscrimination” policy... interesting - they have no problem discriminating against the Boy Scouts for the organization’s beliefs.

Money for Your Morals, folks.

What kind of lesson do you think Merck is really teaching everyone watching the Boy Scouts AND Merck too?

Change your morals for money. It’s acceptable and we will like you once again.

It says a whole lot about Merck though. Moral blackmail.

Merck Foundation can go to hell. Like they believe people will change a foundational moral principle because of money from them.

So, let me get this straight...a “health” organization supports a lifestyle almost guaranteed to bring more disease and premature death?

One would almost think they were liberal.

How low class Merck’s CEO has gone in it’s acceptance of perversion as normal. This nation is going to rightly suffer God’s wrath...already is actually...but it will get worse soon I think.

The problem is the corporate conversion of BSA, and every troop and hopefully every council needs to dissolve the national leadership as well as the very expensive professional ‘scouting’ overhead that quite a few councils are floundering with.

Drop those two, and it won’t matter about all these corporate donations - NONE of this money makes it to the troops, it all goes to pay for adults wearing scout uniforms, forgetting this is a volunteer organization, and instead insisting that not only they get paid for it, but get paid full time.

Good! BSA and other private organizations walk away from these blackmailers and not look back.

The real problem is that the Boy Scouts encourage preparation rather than dependency.

I am amazed at how anxious all these libs and organizations are to making Boy Scouts available to homosexual predators.
