Pray for Our American Heroes and Nation
December 10, 2012 | Faith

Posted on 12/10/2012 7:33:53 AM PST by Faith

He shall be great, and shall be called
the Son of the Highest:
and the Lord God shall give unto Him
the throne of His father David:
And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of His kingdom there shall be no end.
Luke 1: 32-33

Lord God Almighty,

Let every valley be exalted, and every mountain and hill made low; may the crooked be made straight, and the rough places plain. And may Your glory be revealed anew, that all flesh may see it together. For You have spoken the promise of Your Precious Son. Let us lift up our voices with strength and shout forth the glad tidings of the coming of the Savior unto us as a precious baby. Help us, Lord, to prepare our hearts for the beautiful Gift of the Christ Child. Help us to set aside the busyness of the season and turn to the reason for the coming celebration. Lord, let us prepare our hearts for Love----the beautiful Love in the person of Jesus.

We are fully undeserving of Jesus, Father, but our hearts are full of Joy because He lives this day. He reigns at Your right hand. He is our risen Lord. How blessed we are just to remember His marvelous birth and to celebrate His life. Father, we are grateful for so great a Love, so great a Gift.

We grow weary of talks of fiscal cliffs, higher taxes, and more spending. Father, we pray for wisdom for our leaders; but above all, we ask for You to give them the DESIRE to be obedient to You and to be responsible in that which You have entrusted them. Help them to be good stewards of the money diligently earned by the hard work of the citizens of this country. Lord, raise up for us righteous leaders who will not change when they arrive in Washington, but will stay true to You and to Your teachings.

Father, our troops are so precious to us and we know they are highly favored by You. Make them to dwell in the shadow of Your wings, Lord and keep them as the apple of Your eye. We want each one who is deployed to return to their home and family unharmed at the appointed time. Grant special mercies and aid to those who wait for them, Lord. We pray for all to have a wonderful Christmas celebration no matter where they are.

How could one tiny Baby change the world in a manner that would still have a profound effect some 2000 years later? O Holy Child of Bethlehem, we love You, and need You. Thank You, Father, for Jesus, and may His Name be glorified both now and forever. In His Name we pray, Amen.

Charles Wesley said it well -

Come, Thou long-expected Jesus,
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.

Israel’s Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

Amen, Faith
O Come to Us, Abide in Us; Our Lord, Emmanuel.

Almighty and Eternal God, . Protect our military as
they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield
of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and
harm.
May the power of your love enable them to return home
safely to the people who love them and to the gratitude
of the American people..
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
May God Guide Our Nation

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"

Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia
(Click)

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Which Way?

December 10, 2012

Asking directions is not my favorite thing to do. I always feel that if I stay at it long enough I’ll eventually find my way. My wife, Martie, on the other hand, is always quick to ask directions and incredulous about my unwillingness to admit that I don’t have a clue about where I’m going. In the end, she is the wiser one. She gets to her destination quickly and without angst while I end up getting lost.

Thinking that we are smart enough to navigate life on our own goes contrary to the warning of Scripture that tells us, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Prov. 16:25). When we are at a fork in the road, we need to stop and consult the ways of the Lord, “for the ways of the Lord are right” (Hos. 14:9).

Life is a directional enterprise. It’s vitally important to know how to successfully direct our lives toward blessed and peaceful relationships, meaningful acts of love and service, a fulfilling experience with God, and a host of other vitally important destinations.

Asking God for directions isn’t just a good idea—it’s critical. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart . . . and He shall direct your paths” (Prov. 3:5-6).

Lord, I surrender my stubborn tendency to do life on
my own terms. Teach me that my “want to’s” lead to
dead-end streets and that Your wisdom will keep me
on the road to all that is good and fruitful. Amen.
Ask God for directions because He knows the way.

Thank you, ConorMacNessa for all that you add to this thread. One way we could honor our military is to COUNT their votes in last month’s election. May God bless each and every troop.
