Two students have been arrested after they brought brownies laced with marijuana to class and shared them with their unwitting professor and colleagues, authorities said.
Thomas Ricardo Cunningham, 21, and 19-year-old Mary Elizabeth Essa allegedly made the snacks for “bring food day” at Colorado University on Friday.

I don’t have any problem with people who get high, I used to be one of them, and I’ve enjoyed more than my share of HQ MJ in my life.
However eating a MJ laced brownie if properly prepared is extremely potent, especially if one does not have a tolerance for THC.
It is somewhat similar to an LSD trip, although not quite as intense, but it’s close enough. If a person was not expecting this, it could easily be panic inducing or worse.

It does not matter if it can kill them or not.
I had a panic attack once from using it, thought I was having a heart attack.
I’m kidding around, but my office is very boring. And getting the rest of the afternoon off, to go home and watch the Three Stooges would be a bonus. Plus, I could sue the company for damages the next day.
Heh. I understand. But even assuming one can get home safely after a brownie is not 100%. I mean, I am not certain why it works that way when ingested, but it is a freight train and the effects last a good 8-12 hours.
Shuold have a good 45 minutes after eating before it hits in though.
These guys should have known better. Probably not their first batch of brownies. I do imagine they will be in some trouble for this.

I continue to be amazed at what and how much I read/learn about what happens in the US through this Brit newspaper. More often than not, much of what they publish never sees the light of day here as well.

Yep, no dount that is possible. it is an hallucenogenic, and a potent one at that depending highly on the quality.
Certainly paranoia and panic can result from such a drug.
There was some audio of a cop making a 911 call explaining to the dispatcher how he had stolen some weed from a bust and made them into some brownies, and now he and his girlfriend were in the process of dying from eating them.
Of course while he was dying he also asked the dispatcher for some sports scores or something. This guy was completely in la la land from these brownies. Pretty sure he got arrested and fired.
