Heidelberg stubbies were cool, they were barrel-shaped.

No, Brown Derby was tied with Schmidt for the worst of the worst. Heidelberg was my beer of choice in high school.

Ah, for the days of Falstaff, Drewery’s, Carling Black Label, and Billy Beer — THOSE were beers! (NOT)

Actually Paul Newman drank Budweiser. In fact he was their "goodwill ambassador" and drank it in public. A LOT. IIRC, he even got a lifetime supply. During one interview, he was asked how he drank so buch beer, yet stayed so slim. He said: "I take a lot of saunas that help me sweat out the toxins."

BTW, they DO still make Olympia and Rainier beer. I just finished a six-pack. Of both. Not sure if they're made by the same old company, though.

Not only is the beer great, but the labels come in handy later on . . .

The actual Oly and Rainier breweries are long since closed. The Olympia one (where I live) was run out of business by the local water treatement agency (ironic when their trade mark ad line used to be “Its the Water”.) and much larger scale breweries.

Both beers are now made by General Brewing or some other mega-faceless brewery (I think)

Currently I’m in a position to ship 1 Lb at a time, $1/ounce, $16 plus my customers have to pay shipping. It’s expensive, I know. As things gear up, the price is likely to go down.

So do i! My uncle kept them in business as long as he was on the planet by knocking back at least a 12 pack a night. Of course back then it was 2 Six's.

Sad we don't have another ricey tasting beer. Had to go to the UK beers for similar taste.

those were the days.

I’ll drink Yuengling, Blue Moon, and some flavors of Sam Adams.

Can't stand any Sam Adam's beer .. the after-taste is awful.

Blue Moon's good, I'll also raise ya a Batch 19 (if you can find it) and a Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy on a hot summer day.

Perhaps your taste are old fashioned...when garbage was about the only choice you had. I get a REAL kick out of people who think Budweiser and the like are "beer" worth drinking and pass over good beer for that. I really get a kick out of watching people pay $10 for it in a plastic cup...and warm...at a ball game. YIKES.

But...beer is like music. One man's Beethoven is another mans garbage grunge band. But...to your post...there is a lot better beer readily available today than ever before. "Swill" beer, which is what I consider Bud, Coors, Miller...all tastes the same...like watered down piss (and no...never had any...but I imagine that is what it would taste like).

I just had a nice Czech Staropramen Lager. Not too bad.

Thanks for the mummaries. I was trying to remember the name just yesterday. Staropramen was, I decided a few years ago when I visited the Czech Republic, the best of all the beers I tasted there. But the differences were really minor, except for the famous original Budweiser which, surprisingly, wasn’t so great.

I remember the days when one of the few imported beers, and I tasted it on tap, was Dortmunder Union. This is the brewery building. To make sure you know that it's authentically German.

****1 Lb at a time, $1/ounce, $16****

How much would be used per 12 ounce beer?

I use 1-2 tablespoons. It varies to taste.

Ah yes, the beer with the peanut farmer's brother's name..

Another one you didn't drink, just collected the can. Made in Louisville, KY by Falls City Brewing from Ohio River water at a time when said water was 20% raw sewage. The beer tasted like the water..

It lasted on the market maybe two years. Even for collectors the cans aren't worth much, maybe 50 cents ;-)
