Boehner: “This Isn’t a Progress Report Because There’s No Progress to Report”

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) said no progress has been made with the White House in talks to avert the so-called fiscal cliff: across-the-board tax-rate hikes and automatic spending cuts (sequestration) at the beginning of the new year.

“This isn’t a progress report because there’s no progress to report,” Boehner said during a Capitol Hill press conference on Friday. “When it comes to the fiscal cliff that is threatening our economy and threatening jobs, the White House has wasted another week.” …

Oh, okay. I feel better now that I know he's just playing the media. He did so well defending his party before Election 2012 and playing the media then too.

Actually Speaker Boehner was alot more successful than any other prominent Republican, conservative or otherwise, in the 2012 election. The GOP won about 53% of the House seats. He is trying to avoid a complete Democrat dictatorship come 2014. Unfortunately the GOP lost the tax debate because the majority of this country envies the rich. It is a losing proposition and I hope he can successfully deflect it and loss of the House.

If you want to feel better, forget how conservatives threw away a reasonable change to tie up or take the Senate ...

What Boehner needs to do is propose a law that forces the white people to pay back the black Americans for all the suffering they caused them during slavery. Even better, outlaw 100% the extracting of oil ANYWHERE on US soil. That would sure help the republicans maintain the power in the House in 2014.

There's a lot Boehner could do to out left the democrats. You make some wonderful points!

It's no wonder the conservatives lost the Senate for the Republicans, as you said. If only they could just be more like Arlen Spector.

exactly

personlly I htink give obama his tax increases and whne he gets no revenue form the top 2% after 8 days then ask him what do you want to tax now, we did it your way, you cut no spending, you raised taxes and yet no more money is avaliable.?

Guarantee the media can;t fault our side as we gave obmaa the top 2% and tax increases.

To hell giving obama a debt ceiling on his call or more spending.

Everyone around him has caved verbally. Boehner is not going to somehow be a magical holdout.

Tom Price from Georgia is considering a challenge to Boehner

I prefer a Speaker who can speak in full sentences. Boehner can hardly communicate.

“No one wants Bohners job to be Os bitch.”

Right. Why would a real conservative ruin their reputation that way?

“No deal will be made this year. Next year??”

Dems dont want a deal. They feel that they can do better next year. Boehner should be passing his ‘no tax hike’ bill.

GOP position should be simple:
EXTEND THE TAX RATES FOR ONE YEAR.
DEFER OBAMACARE TAX INCREASES ONE YEAR.
We get one more year before another cliff hits and in the meantime, use it to fix entitlements, reform taxes and cut spending.

Done!

Be realistic. Republicans will just get the blame for the coming tax increase and then they will cave and giive in as their own state voters turn against them. There is no state with a majority of even Republicans who are willing to ppay higher taxes just because those making more than them have to.
It doesnt take a crystal ball to see how that would play out. And they always end up weaker when it does.

Republicans best chances are to pass a separate bill extending income under $250K, and if they like another over $250, and send them both to the Senate and call Os bluff.
O is demanding other stuff with it anyway but he is not saying that to the voters on his “Tell Republicans not to raise your taxes to protect the rich” tour. call his bluff and get on TV and accuse O of playing games with middle class taxes

Watch O beat Rs time after time (past two years is very old.)

Well, they have to technically get the 22nd Amendment repealed, WHICH THEY CAN DO after the win the house back in 2014 because of the demolition of the Republican Party, and get over 2/3 of the Senate.

Or, if not that, he just declares himself dictator and Boehnor, the chickenshit that he is, demands all of America bow down to their dictator.

This ‘Cliff’ was created by Commune-Oriented, Community Organizer B. Hussein Obama so that he could keep on spending taxpayer dollars that we do not have.

The cure for this spendaholic behavior is CONFRONTATION. Something the Iron Triangle of RINOs-Democrats-Liberal Agenda Media have steadfastly opposed.

Is there a pool going that guesses the date and time the Speaker officially throws up the white flag of surrender?

What would really be “progress” would be the removal of Boehner as Speaker.
