(CNN) -- George Zimmerman, charged in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Florida boy, sued NBC Universal on Thursday for using "the oldest form of yellow journalism" by editing an audio tape of his 911 call to make him sound racist, the lawsuit said.

Zimmerman is seeking "damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit" in Seminole County Circuit Court in Florida, where the lawsuit is filed.

Zimmerman, who is Hispanic and is charged with second-degree murder, is accused of fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, who was African-American. The February incident has provoked national controversy.

Good- I truly hope he and his wife end up as multi millionaires for the compelte railroading and travesty of justice he has had to endure

The defamation most definately WAS for political purposes- and was meant to force a judge to hold george in prison until AFTER the elections at which point the case will lose ALL media attention except for fox and a few talk radio shows at which point I doubt that a blatant violation of his rights will even be mentioend in the press and he’ll be tucked away in some quiet cell for life and forgotten- The whole issue became political when our dear leader declared that he wanted a son just like martin- and hten NEVER said another word abotu the case even after it was blatantly clear george was being violated by the very court systerms that is suppsoed to protect victims-

First reports called him white. That’s what ginned up the initial rage. I think it was his defense team, once they got into gear, that countered by pointing out his heritage, and also noted he tutored black kids.

O’Mara is raising hay that will severely upset some applecarts even if there is an utter news blackout. (To mix a couple or more metaphors)

[[HA! CNN cowering as well, note they called Zimmerman Hispanic, that’s a first!]]

I can hear hteir lawyers pleadign with george right now saying’ you have to believe us george, we didn’t know all the facts when we first reported the case, abd it did appear by the photos that you were white and not hispanic, so it’s not our fault we called you a white male, and we certainly meant you no harm when showed the videos that made it look liek you were fien hwen they brought you into the police station- honest george- we meaqnt no harm- can’t we all just get along now por favor?

those in the MSM are SLIME- Every last one of them! Nothign woudl make me any happier than to see george sure EVERY SINGLE STATION that INTENTIONALLY misrepresented the FACTS and who sullied his reputation so badly that it put his very life at risk and hwo RUINED his life forever now- He will NEVER get hisl ife back no thanks to the SCUM in the MSM!

[[Dear leader himself may be ignorant,]]

Oh- he was NOT ignorant of what he was tryign to do- He stoked racist hatred agaisnt george by stating that if he had a son it would look just like martin’. Our dear leader had a responsibility to protect george, but instead chose to stoke hatred agaisnt george in the hopes that someoen in the black community woudl kill george and who knows- perhaps he even hoped they woudl kill his family too- And this country wanted 4 more years of this thug? Unbelievable!

There’s almsot no doubt they did- and htere’s almsot no doubt that order really stuck in the craw of thsoe racists in the MSM too- they aare probably seethign over the fact that they can’t call him white anymore-

Like an idiot savant or someone with autism, maybe. Barack Obama, the Zero, looks way too puppeteered to be your ordinary politician. Those remarks came off of his teleprompter. If they didn’t he’d be stumbling and stuttering at best.

I think “in excess of the jurisdictional limit” means that Zimmerman’s claim exceeds the minimum amount in controversy required for the court to have jurisdiction. For example, in federal lawsuits in which jurisdiction is based on diversity of citizenship of the parties, the amount in controversy must exceed $75,000, exclusive of interest. If the plaintiff in such a case demands less than that amount, the case goes to a state court.
I would argue that Zimmerman was not a public figure, and malice need not be proved. Remember the 1996 Olympic security guard. He made out OK in his lawsuits.
But, I have not read Zimmerman’s Complaint.
Filing this litigation against NBC is a good call by Zimmerman’s defense team.

[[Traditional First Amendment jurisprudence is that you can say some awfully outrageous things and still walk with impunity]]

But you can’t falsely ruin someone’s reputation to the point that they suffer financial damage, nor can you say false thigns that lead to fears for safety by the individual-

[[But still, there’s a point when you got to wonder if it’s more than dedication to an abstract philosophy, if there’s blind malice and hate going on.]]

I don’t wodner at all- I see it seethign just beneath the surfaces of all those racists that railroaded george right from day one- there was NO objective reporting on this case- there was however a blatant attempt to cover up the FACTS to make it look like soemthign it was not in the hopes that it woudl hurt an innocent man- and that’s exactly what happened, and that is racist- When you wish for harm, and plot harm agaisnt a person simply because he is one color or anather- I’d say that that is pretty clear racism and intent to harm- hopefulyl his lawyer can make the case that the reporting waqs meant to harm george in such aq way that it woudl incite people to harm him or murder him- the evidence is pretty clear that that is exactly what happened when the NBP’ers stepped in and issued a death warrent agaisnt him- The reportign was doen with extreme prejudice and malice

Poor Al Sharpton. He owes $2,6 million to the IRS in back taxes and nearly $900,000 to the State of New York. George Zimmerman may have a hard time collecting from the Reverend Al because the taxmen got there first.

For a public figure, a higher standard of actual malice would need to be met to prevail in a civil libel/slander suit. Kind of stinks how media can out someone to being a public figure at will, and maybe they technically can’t if the person systematically refuses news coverage to the best of his ability, even if the _resident himself talks about him — but once the person makes a statement that he wants to go in the news, poof I’d think he is now a public figure and can’t stuff that genie back into the bottle.

It’s not precisely a slam dunk but O’Mara would probably be foolish not to try.

Well I TRULY hope that omara is smarter than it appears right now- (not sayign he apepars dumb, just sayign that we haven’t heaqrde muich from him and don’t really have a good guage as to his prowess i nthe courts) I Truly hope he rips the MSM a new one, and is even able to rip the prosecution whore who sold her soul to the devil when she commited judicial malpractice i norder to lock george up a new one and cripple her finacially and causes her to lose her liscence to practice law forever- she brought FALSE CHARGES that did NOT eVEN fit the caswe at all agaisnt george- she had to make crap up in order to bring htese false charges against him- what happened on the night of hte killing did NOT EVEN rise to the charges nor were the descriptions of hte charges relavent to what happened- they were false charges- and I truly hope mark targets her and destroys her career because she is unworthy of ever practicign law again- she has failed the people, the state of florida, and the whole judicial system by KNOWINGLY and WILLINGLY bringign false charges against george- . QWhat she did was let everyoen know that even if they are innocent- they could and probably would face false charges agaisnt htem IF she felt it could help her politically- she has turned a blind eye to judtice- and doesn’t deserve to serve the peopel any longer!

Tell your cat to stop walking on the keyboard.

Anyhow, O’Mara has to first GET the evidence before being able to make hay about it, and this bloody mouth/nose picture that recently surfaced is one such item. Once doing it the proper way in court (and this new judge appears to be being actually fair about it) without getting sidetracked by more circuses, then he has dangerous weaponry at hand. As it is said, revenge is a dish best served cold, and crow vichyssoise is busy mellowing in O’Mara’s refrigerator to be served to all and sundry.

[[poof I’d think he is now a public figure and can’t stuff that genie back into the bottle]]

I woudl think his lawyer could make hte case that he only became a public figure after he was maligned with malice by the MSM in order to try to defend his reputation agaisnt hte false and malicious claims by a news media that hid facts and manipulated facts in an effort to intentionally ruin the man knowing htat by doign what htey were doing, that probalbe race wars would ensue- which they did- george even had a death warrent taken out on his life and his family even suffered possible death at hte hands of an angry racist mobs because hte media intentionally misled the people i nsuch a way as to incite them to hatred against an as then non-public persona
