Don't let Obama own it!(vanity)

Some conservatives are saying that Republicans should let Obama own the economy. Essentially give him what he wants with regard to tax hike, spending, etc. so that Republicans could not be labelled obstructionist.

This is garbage! This strategy will mean that Obama will be able to put more in his Santa sack to give to his constituents. More will become dependents and more will love Obama.

The Republicans should not "give" Obama anything. They need to fight for lower tax rates and reduced spending. If it means we go over the cliff so be it. The House must be ruled by principled Republicans who agree that surrender is not an option.

Best way I can see to keep the republicans from being labeled anything at all, since they obviously have no strategy whatsoever to being called bad names, is to vote their stupid asses right the Hell out of existence.

“They need to fight for lower tax rates and reduced spending. If it means we go over the cliff so be it. The House must be ruled by principled Republicans who agree that surrender is not an option.”

If they fight and stand on principle it would give them the right to say, “I told you so.”

They’ll be blamed no matter what they do.

IMO, the Republicans should pass one bill that entends the Bush tax rates for everyone except for the top rate and make them PERMANENT and tie this bill to eliminating the AMT or raising it to inflation adjusted rates from the past 30 or 40 years.

Then pass a second bill that extends the Bush tax cut for the upper income taxpayers - let the Dems and 0bama shoot this bill down, so they own the tax raises on the “wealthy” & small businesses.
Athough the higher rate will affect me personally, the permanent tax rates will help future generations including my children.

Then use the debt ceiling debate to cut spending, threaten to shut down the government by not raising the debt celing if there are no spending cuts.

We all know that Obama can’t fix the nation’s financial problems by raising taxes on those making over $250,000 a year. He knows it, too. Everybody needs to stop thinking that Obama is doing this because he THINKS it will be good for the nation. He could care less. He’ll do what’s best for Obama and then what’s best for the Democrat party. Everybody wants to get into a financial ideological debate with Obama and the Democrats. They aren’t going to debate. They are con men.

Give him everything he wants. The sooner he "overwhelms the system" the sooner we can overwhelm (in the biblical sense) him and his fellow travelers and start rebuilding.

If he gets everything he wants then we will have 4 years of massive investments in:
1. diversity education
2. “responsible” sex education for middle schoolers
3. union bailouts
4. green energy
5. affirmative action

Do you really think we’ll have a better chance to win in 2016 after that? His coalition of union workers, envirowackos, minorities, welfare cases, pro-aborts, etc. will be unstoppable by then.

Remember FDR - he got everything he wanted, the economy collapsed further, and he won FOUR terms.

I repeat - remember FDR.

If America is not at that point yet, we surely will be once the WH Clown gets hold of a new unlimited credit line.

True conservative principles mean that we will vote to lower rates even if it means some deductions get eliminated. To me, true conservative principles also mean that we don’t raise the debt ceiling. But I would be willing to concede some on the debt limit if there are rate reductions and entitlement reform. If the Dems don’y like it then I say we go over the cliff. Obama would be forced to reduce his spending and do a pay-go approach, which would be good for the country.

What is your view on the cliff?

Don't raise the debt ceiling. Let the Bush tax cuts expire FOR EVERBODY.

That 47% that pays no taxes needs to get some skin in the game.

The increase in taxes will devastate the economy, and Ubama will OWN it.

Good post - keep it simple give Obama nothing - let him “own” that.

The republican “brand” is coming out this debate screwed anyway, and in two years the world will change again, and this will be forgotten. Don’t let Obama have a thing, entitlements will dry up and his base will go nuts and abandon him.

If you let him continue to “feed” his base money we will be screwed in 2016. Play the long game, not the MSM hype.

It’s not about surrendering, it’s about letting people see the fruits of left-wing policy. It actually takes away ammunition from them, who would otherwise blame 2016’s 30% unemployment rate on obstructionist Republicans. They would own it entirely.

Great! And then the 47% Romney mentioned becomes 53% and the Dems win in a landslide in 2016.

Remember FDR. The unemployment was through the roof for a decade and that helped FDR each time he won reelection. Why do you think high unemployment hurts Obama?

Because FDR bought votes with “job programs,” but the federal government today is so large, bloated, and hamstrung by its own bureaucracy that there is no way it would be able to do that today. Plus monetary policy is very, very different.

The economic situation of today is not like the Great Depression. We need a fever to cure our illness.

What is the difference between buying votes with “jobs programs” then and buying votes now with Obama phones, free tuition, bailouts, and “free healthcare”?

FDR created the impression that he was putting people to work. Obama will create no such impression. I’m not saying Obama won’t successfully buy a large fraction of the vote, but in 2016 the personality cult of Obama won’t be running and the Democrat party will own the second recession %100 if we just let them have their way.

If Republicans obstruct, all they can do is buy time.

If we let Dems get whatever they want when they have the Presidency but Repubs are forced to fight hard to advance conservatism when they have the Presidency, then in 50 years the USA will be no more.
