Santa Cruz’s Maya Salsedo planted the seed for Food Justice and wound up harvesting an award-winning manifesto to boot. Now, her story is inspiring other youth nationwide to create changes within their own communities.

Maya, you have the right to grow your own vegetables and bring your own lunch to school. Of course everyone else has the right to pick them. She’s going to need Food Subsidies with her degree in Ethnic Studies. I like the demand for cultural food. There are 100 languages spoken in my old high school.

“...The Santa Cruz-born food justice advocate, now 20 and pursuing a double major (Ethnic Studies and Political Legal Economic Analysis) at Mills College in the East Bay...”

That said it all. No need to make any assumptions about a real education.

She’ll go far.

After all, look at the Obamadork/felon/cretin.

If you want to know more about the "Food Justice" propaganda being thrown at our kids:

I love the mutually exclusive demands they have. For example they want locally grown food, but they want culturally affirming food. So if a Honduran is living in Ohio, he has the right to locally grown bananas. Good luck with that (unless he runs his SUV enough to warm the earth).

Another laugh worthy one is: "We need healthier school lunches that are implemented by schools with the ingredients decided on by the Youth." Yeah, the kids are really great at selecting healthy lunches when they decide on the ingredients. I suspect a civil war will occur when deciding whether to make french fries or tater tots out of their locally grown, organic, genetically diverse, culturally affirming farmers' market potatoes.

Ethnic Studies and Political Legal Economic Analysis? Not one course in agriculture, food science or nutrition, and she's going to dictate food justice? It's no wonder why Communists, throughout history, end up starving.

Kids should probably read up on the history of food justice and collective farms that existed in the old Soviet Union during the 1920’s and 1930’s. Maybe 20 to 30 million people died of starvation as a result of this grand social engineering project.

Yeah, the kids are really great at selecting healthy lunches when they decide on the ingredients.

They took the soda and candy machines out of our local high school (dumb idea to install them in the first place). It wasn't long before students and teachers started selling soda, candy and pop tarts. Big lollipops are 50 cents and pop tarts are a dollar.

it was cool for me to learn how food was actually grown and how you could make a meal out of things you’ve completely grown out of the ground; that you didn’t even have to go to the store. Whoa—who knew?

Honey, bless your little pea picking heart, humans have known since they first crawled out of the slimey ooze. How in the world I've managed to survive never living within walking distance of a grocery store, I'll never know. Amazing, huh.

“I was like, ‘Wow … one of the reasons my family did not have many choices in the food we ate had a lot to do the corporations’ control of the food system.’ Suddenly, that was really clear to me. I just started thinking about it—why some people have abundant access to healthy food and why some people don’t.

I'm like, wow, you didn't pick up a snippet of healthy foods from your mama who's a chef at a farm to table restaurant? Yo yo, girl friend, ya know, like, dude, fast food and junk food costs more than healthy food made at home so all your whining about economics falls flat. Oh, and I'm also like, wow, your whole story doesn't hold water. Excuse me while I step out to the backyard garden and pick a fresh salad for dinner.

WOW was that ever in need of a barf alert.... And I did not even read the so-called “Food Bill of Rights”.

I had to take a look. The "Youth Food Bill of Rights" includes such howlers as:

We have the right to culturally affirming food.
We have the right to local food.
We have the right to good food subsidies.
We have the right to an ozone layer.
We have the right to convenient food that is healthy.

And who will provide these rights? Why the government of course.

WTF is this moron talking about? I have access to foods I can't even imagine being able to find thanks to corporations that cater to my tastes, tastes that in some cases I haven't even developed yet. If all I had to eat was what I could grow myself, I'd have to live on carrots and tomatoes. Good Lord what a fool this woman is.

Here is my answer:

Carrots
Onions (pick one that best affirms your culture): red, white, yellow, vidalia, leek, scallions
Eggs
Potatoes
Rice

Have fun lady.
