So, Why Don't We Ask For An Immediate 15% tax Hike on All "Rich" Federal Workers?
NA | 12-6-2012 | RA Cook

Posted on 12/06/2012 10:52:53 AM PST by Robert A Cook PE

So, Obama is fixated - to the point of a "religious" Crusading zealotry - with raising taxes on the rich?

(Even if it means reducing total tax revenues by stifling the economy, sending us back into an ever-steady recession.)

OK. So, even if it won't clear the deficit, why don't we " raise taxes on the rich" ... by passing an immediate, across the board "progressive" tax on all non-defense federal employees and retirees?

Anyone making a total of over $150,000.00 per year (bonus and salary and retirements) gets a 15% tax.

Anyone making a total of over $100,000.00 per year (bonus and salary and retirements) gets a 10% tax.

Anyone making a total of over $75,000.00 per year (bonus and salary and retirements) gets a 5% tax.

And, anyone paying more than 50% of their adjusted gross income in total taxes (federal, medicare, Social Security, state, local, property, sales taxes, natural gas and heating oil and electric taxes, telephone taxes, sewage taxes, gasoline taxes and tire recycling fees and garbage taxes and professional registration taxes and all else, is capped with an "alternative Maximum Tax" of 50%.

Once you pay 50% of your income in taxes, you stop paying.

A 15% tax on union dues would place some burden on the people who keep electing Democrats. Let them pay their "fair share".

I imagine you mean this to be on top of current Federal taxes? As a DOD civillian making under $75,000, I pay ~19% federal income tax. I’d be happy to knock that down to 5%.

I’ve always wondered why health insurance benefits aren’t taxed though.

Why not just cut the federal salaries, including the Congress and President, using the graduated levels you speak instead of re-writing the tax code?

Explain to each government worker that their cut in salaries are part of Obozo’s shared sacrifice - they are expected to work longer hours on less pay, happy to have a fed’l job working on all the great programs (especially their own) that the citizens and non-citizens must have in order to exist on this planet. I am sure they will understand and happily agree that they are willing to go to the wall for Obozo and make personal sacrifices for “the general welfare” of the country.

Once this is done, then the entitlement crowd can get “invited” involuntarily to the same program - Obozo’s Shared Sacrifice People 1st Program. Except in this case, the explanation is that in order for them to continue to receive such great government services, even if it is just receiving a government check for doing nothing, they have to give back in order for their program to survive. A raffle will be held once a month for 100 free Obozofone (monthly taxes not included), and 1 lucky winner each month will get a call from Obozo himself.

I’ll betcha that the majority of this ‘bad’ diability is going to unionized thieves. The unions will fight any attempt at disability taxes to the ends of the earth.

Obama taxing the rich is no more than a bigoted racist hatred of people he has despised since infancy.

It has nothing to do with the economics of the United States. It is payback.

It should stop being sugar coated and recognised for what it is.

It is South Africa and Mandella’s war against whites, only it is here and Obama. It will end the same way, with a country destroyed,.

He likes like Mugabe, spending $1.4 billion dollars on he and his family’s lifestyle. The NBC’s of the world would not dare raise this issue.

He is an angry, bitter man at heart, and his Dad/Mentor Frank Marshall Davis fostered his hatred of whites and his adoration of Marxism.

Whites (and some other races, but mainly whites) are the “wealthy” and blacks, across the globe, are poor, as a rule. (Ironically, wealthier in the US than anywhere else, but facts don’t matter to Hussein).

It’s his turn at Social Justice and he does not care what happens to the nation. He is not a steward for all, he is a maggot Commie racist.

Just get his own tax-cheaters to pay up... Don't know why this wasn't an issue in the election.

from IBD Jan 2012

“The tax offenders include employees of the U.S. Senate who help write the laws imposed on everyone else. They owe $2.1 million. Workers in the House of Representatives owe $8.5 million, Department of Education employees owe $4.3 million and over at Homeland Security, 4,697 workers owe about $37 million. Active duty military members owe more than $100 million.

The Treasury Department, where Obama nominee Tim Geithner had to pay up $42,000 in his own back taxes before being confirmed as secretary, has 1,181 other employees with delinquent taxes totaling $9.3 million.

As usual, the Postal Service, with more than 600,000 workers, has the most offenders (25,640), who also owe the most — almost $270 million. Veterans Affairs has 11,659 workers owing the IRS $151 million while the Energy Department that was so quick to dish out more than $500 million to the Solyndra folks has 322 employees owing $5 million.

The country's chief law enforcement agency, the Department of Justice, has 2,069 employees who are nearly $17 million behind in taxes. Like Operation Fast and Furious, Attorney General Eric Holder has apparently missed them too.”

interesting ~ there are a lot of retired federal employees ~ couple of million maybe ~ and probably some of them made mistakes on their taxes ~ however, you didn't read an article about that. What you read about were some federal employees who have tax problems, and, if you'd read the details of the various IG reports on the problem you'd found the majority of them are having problems keeping taxes straight while child custody cases are resolved by state employees who seem to be woefully incompetent!

BTW, when you say you've read something, give us a URL so we can go read it for ourselves.

Here's your first problem ~ the top ticket people you want to tax more are mostly holders of advanced degrees who actually can walk across the street to get another job.

When it comes to graduate level research scientists and physicians, uncle sam already isn't competitive. You'd simply make a bad situation worse and then wonder why it is top officials in the NIH, or ObamaKKKare make such ignorant decisions!

First, tackle the road repair crews who just stand around holding flags ~ now those guys are definitely not doing anything for their pay!

Or, maybe you think your letter carrier makes too much ~ go screach at him about it someday.

How do you tax federal workers? They don’t pay taxes. They just have misleading paychecks and overly complicated means of receiving their salary.

Those rates of yours? I”d take them in a New York second ~ lower than anything I ever paid!

Not better. That’s the same thing. It’s just that one way involves more paperwork and thereby employs yet more govern unmentioned workers.

What? I was a federal employee for 40 years ~ and received one of the few 'perfect attendance' certificates ever issued. If something went on I was aware of it ~ even spent several decades WRITING FEDERAL REGULATIONS.

First of all, when I filed my taxes I used the same forms everyone else did and paid the same rates. I paid Social Security too. And, I always bought a savings bond and passed on a donation to a charity of my choice.

There is no special lower rate for federal employees. Even your bonuses, if you get bonuses, are taxed, but they are not eligible for inclusion in any computation related to a retirement plan ~ which means you can't even make a 401(K) (called Thrift Savings Plan in the feds) contribution from your own paycheck based on the part that's a bonus.

Regarding sitting down with your boss and colluding with him to obscure the way you get paid and thereby fool the IRS, get serious folks ~ IRS has ALL THE RECORDS on the other federal employees and they make sure they get their pound of flesh.

I am among the lucky elect who got to audit the IRS for proper payment of postage. Boy did they screw up, and did so for years. I could hardly contain myself when I found the errors in their payments ~ jumping up and down in my waffle bottom seat, knocking over my coffee break cups, tossing pens and paperclips left and right ~ WAHOO!!!!!!
