Cadet quits, cites overt religion at West Point
Associated Press ^ | 12/5/12 | Michael Hill

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- A cadet quitting West Point less than six months before graduation says he could no longer be part of a culture that promotes prayers and religious activities and disrespects nonreligious cadets. Blake Page announced his decision to quit the U.S. Military Academy this week in a much-discussed online post that echoed the sentiments of soldiers and airmen at other military installations.

The 24-year-old told The Associated Press that a determination this semester that he could not become an officer because of clinical depression played a role in his public protest against what he calls the unconstitutional prevalence of religion in the military. "I've been trying since I found that out: What can I do? What can I possibly do to initiate the change that I want to see and so many other people want to see?" Page said. "I realized that this is one way I can make that change happen." Page criticized a culture where cadets stand silently for prayers, where nonreligious cadets were jokingly called "heathens" by instructors at basic training and where one officer told him he'd never be a leader until he filled the hole in his heart. In announcing his resignation this week on The Huffington Post, he denounced "criminals" in the military who violate the oaths they swore to defend the Constitution.

"I don't want to be a part of West Point knowing that the leadership here is OK with just shrugging off and shirking off respect and good order and discipline and obeying the law and defending the Constitution and doing their job," he told the AP. West Point officials on Wednesday disputed those assertions.

Because an Atheist army won’t have a problem following orders to round up Christians.

"Lyin sack."

Makes you wonder why he waited almost four years to use this lame excuse for his departure. Better to lose a POS like this. Can you imagine him in a battle zone? When something went wrong, he'd point the finger at the soldiers under his command, instead of taking responsibility for his own bad decision. He was a prime candidate to die as a result of friendly fire.

“Page expects to leave for his grandparents’ home in Wright County, Minn., in the coming days. He plans to remain an activist on the role of religion in the military.”I’d really love to be able to do this for the rest of my life,” he said”
Well, I wish we could say Bye Bye but this dysfunctional punk is going to be picked up and used as a tool to drive God out of the Military. The Military is the last pillar and the left can now focus all its resources on destroying it. Don’t forget the ACLU has just found 4, count em 4, women to use to bring a suit to force women to the front lines in California. I pray every day but for whatever reason God is allowing our nations demise. It breaks my heart but it is the way it is.

This article is a lot worse than what is stated therein. No matter what we think of the guy that is quitting, the fact is the left now has a cause celeb to go after the military in a very overt way. The officer crop to some extent has been compromised by liberals a long time ago. But this will put in place at West Point and other military instituions to eliminate traditions Christion/Jewish prayer (Isalm is Okay) within the military.

The end is very near and if we are ever going to have a chance we must make a stand now! NOW

The left will embrace him. Maybe he can share a room with Jesse Jackson, Jr. at the Mayo Clinic. Sadly we’ll be paying his disability checks each month, since he’ll surely qualify with the Obama regime’s guidelines.

I agree. But, AP said he wasn't responsible for reimbursing the government for his schooling — and that really IS puzzling. How did he pull that off?

If that is, indeed, the case, it *is* puzzling. He should be required to reimburse, if he isn't, why?

I graduated in 1992...and some of this rings true...but even if true, so what?

There is a group, called the ‘Navigators’...they are born again christains. My room-mate was one; and, once he decided that he liked me, he became very concerned about my soul and did invite me to join. Who knew...peer pressure among young people.

I declined, and it wasn’t that traumatic.

The ‘heathen’ comment instantly triggered memories. During the first summer, we were deprived of food during the week. So, we would go to church on Sunday - where the parishoners (officer’s wives) would lay out a spread of food for after the service. So, almost all of us would go to church. We would get into formation, and the cadre (upperclass) would ask ‘who’s catholic - you need to go with so and so’...and down the line for all the major religions. They would also ask ‘who’s a heathen - you need to go with so and so’. It was meant to be funny - poking fun at the fact some people were so devoted to their lack of faith, they wouldn’t even endure a church service to get food. Who knew - upper class cadets try to insult lower class cadets and make them feel bad.

More specifically psychologically unfit for a commission.

However, that doesn't make good headlines, not when the msm can bash religion.

I pray every day but for whatever reason God is allowing our nations demise. It breaks my heart but it is the way it is.

It isn't any mystery at all to determine the reason. In order to fulfill G-d's plan as regards to Israel, Israel must truly stand alone, with the entirety of man's world against her. This is what we see happening, even as we speak.

Is this saddening? Yes, but we must also come to grips with the facts that it is absolutely necessary.

Often G-d gives us 'bitter medicine' to swallow, but in the end, it is for our own good. He is manifestly demonstrating that even the best of us cannot govern ourselves outside of His precepts. We (the human race, collectively) insist on doing things 'our' way, despite what He has told us would inevitably be the end result of doing so. He now has no other alternative, acceptable to Him, to allowing us to do it, until we get a belly full of the results.

The fault lies *not* in Him, but in ourselves (although the trait can manifest itself to a lesser degree in those more amenable to His way, than those who obstinately do not, even the best of us are infected to some degree, or another...)

So, in other words, he didn't want to be a Soldier in today's Army. Good. Get lost.

He can't graduate because they've determined him to be mentally unstable. So he blames religion.

He would've gotten a pass had he just claimed to be a Muslim.
