Bob Costas: I wouldn’t want to have a gun during a theater shooting

OReilly: Do you want to hit the floor and hope you dont get shot or have a gun on you that you could protect yourself?
Costas: I dont want a gun on me, no. In that situation, in the dark, in the confusion, I think its highly more likely that there would be more carnage bullets would be flying wildly all over the place.

I fully agree.
I wouldn’t want Bob to have a gun in that situation, either. A gun in the hands of a total idiot isn’t likely to do any good and may do harm.
On the other hand, a gun in the hand of a trained, capable citizen... well, that’s a very different matter.
To: theruleshavechanged
Why doesn’t he just shut up. His pancake mortician’s makeup is starting to flake. He wants to be the next Keith Overbite, and it just might work.

To prove he is an idiot. He’d rather be shot than have a gun to defend himself.

He’s right. If he had a gun it would make him shi% his drawers which would make it easy for the killer to find him.

IIRC, Olberdouche’s first major gig was as a sportscaster. Costas might be onto something...

A gun in Costas’s hand would be like a chimp with a hand grenade.

Because this oxygen thief probably has a handful of twenty-thirty year old (the demographic he says should not have access) armed bodyguards. Probably ex-military as well.
I love the duplicity of people with armed entourages that decry gun ownership all the while they are protected by armed citizens (not LEO’s). Basically celebrities and left wing local politicians and disorganizers like “Jesse Free” Meal Jackson. They are above they law when it comes to their protection.
To: theruleshavechanged
Well, Bob... you are free to piss on yourself and cower behind a seat. A braver soul will take the initiative.

Assuming Costas is straight, O’Reilly should have asked whether Costas would want a means to protect himself AND HIS WIFE or not.
You could have bet that his wife would provide some clarity to Costas.
Hey, but O’Reilly prefers to play the fool than ask the tough question.

I think it was Mark Twain that said that.

Also:All the confusion and disagreement surrounding both the author and the wording of this saying led us to suspect that it may be a simple maxim, not attributable to any single person -- which is not to question its wisdom.

Yes: There is no sense in interefering with the gunmans aim as he goes about uninterupted shooting whomever he gets in the mood to shoot. /s/
Much better to just let him run out of bullets and leave.

The dirtbag also said he didn't want armed people standing in line at the theater, because they would start shooting each other over minor incidents. Boob Cooter thinks the world of Americans, doesn't he? In his Upper West Side lib mentality, we're all just ignorant rubes or street thugs looking for an opportunity to commit acts of violence. Of course, the exact opposite is true — “More Guns, Less Crime” by Prof. John Lott. Would be nice if Cooter were to read Prof. Lott's book, but nobody hold their breath.

I wouldn’t want Costas to have a gun in that situation either. For myself, however, as well as any of my well-practiced shooting friends, I would prefer that we are armed and prepared to shoot back in defense of ourselves and others.
To: VRWCmember
I wouldnt want Costas to have a gun in that situation either. Yep, I picture him clumsily trying to load the gun, like Fredo, when Don Corleone was shot.

I wouldn’t want him to have a gun either. Then it would be easier to grab him and use him as a shield against the bullets. If you grabbed him by the neck and back of his pants you could at least cover your vitals with Bobby’s little body.
