Affordable Care Act is in full swing, there’s a lot of apprehension and perhaps, sometimes, enthusiasm about what is truly in store for the medical profession.

The last time you visited your doctor you may have noticed that he or she was more apprehensive, cautious, and yes, maybe more overwhelmed. The fact of the matter is that the health care profession is undergoing the most significant renovation to ever happened in the history of the United States.

My cardiologist, in the biz for over 20 years, has quit on account of ObamaCare. He’s had enough of the stupid bureaucratic requirements. He wants to focus on his patient’s well-being, but can’t because of that crap. So, he quit.

The thing that should scare doctors the most is that they will be forced to come out of retirement and work at gunpoint. We should all have that fear, since it will not be rewarding to produce.

Doctors should refuse to treat known liberals.

Hmmm....Medicare and Medicaid fraud is big money for the Democrat voting bloc. I can’t see them cracking down.

So long as it costs more than $1 to see a doctor, we are safe from full waiting rooms. They’ll still use the “free” ER for everything. The free option will always be crowded.

I will find a way out in the next 2 years. They cannot force me to work. Even at gunpoint

Doctors weigh in on Health Care Reform.

The Allergists voted to scratch it,
but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenteritis had sort of a gut feeling about it
but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.
Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.

Pathologists yelled, “Over my dead body!”
while the Pediatricians said, ‘Oh, Grow up!’

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness,
while the Radiologists could see right through it.
Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow,
and the Plastic Surgeons said, “This puts a whole new face on the matter.”

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward,
but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.

The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas
and the Cardiologists didn’t have the heart to say no.

Chiropractors thought the whole plan was crooked.
In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the aholes in Washington.

My boss is quitting too.

Twenty million new patients. Hundreds of thousands fewer providers. What could possibly go wrong?

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward,

Not this Podiatrist. As soon as I'm able I'm getting out of Podiatry.

Other things that scare doctors.

1) Only a fool of a doctor will now accept patients on Medicare or Medicaid. They are no longer worth it. As doctors leave the system, there will be no doctors willing to take on these patients.

2) Government controlled insurance is even less worth it. So many doctors will likely migrate to cash only, where they can offer medical care for half the cost, and make more profit at the same time.

3) This will mean that patients will be obligated to buy insurance they do not use. Or pay the penalty fine for not buying insurance, which may cost less. A tax with no benefit to them whatsoever.

4) The quality of care on the government system will go to hell. Which seems to be fine as far as the socialized medicine crowd are concerned. Equally crappy and dangerous health care for everybody is better, by their lights, then good health care for the vast majority.

5) The passport regime will probably become increasingly strict to prevent the sick from traveling to Mexico for better quality health care.

Doc,
I should’ve changed it...it CAN be changed with “a step BACK”...
no MN, I added a thing or two, but it was sent to me in ‘08 or thereabouts by a doc friend of mine.
Cheers!

Knowing the legendary wit of FR...this can be easily added to.
(The PT’s thought it was an exercise in futility,
& ER docs thought it would crash the whole system, etc...)
Have fun!

Your No. 2 observation (doctors migrating to cash only) would be difficult I’d think, due to the “enforcement” aspect of Obamacare. I’d think Obama “agents” would “visit” any doctor “reported” for working on a cash basis. (I hope there are a few who will do that; but I think it’s probably doubtful.)

The true nationalization of health care will include government takeover of all hospitals and affiliated practices. Its the only way the government can ‘be fair’ and invoke salary caps on all doctors, nurses, etc. in order to control cost.

It WILL happen.

As a result, there will be a mass exodus of doctors, specialist and nurses. But Obama will fill that void with foreign born doctors and lessen education /skill requirements here in he US so more will have ‘equal opportunity’ to become health care providers.

Its truly the movie Idiocracy coming true before our eyes.

If the doctors don’t follow the company line they will lose their license to practice. There is nothing a doctor can do to fight that...other than to retire.

Okay as a doc , there is no way they can force me to treat patients. None.
They could force to show up, make me see people, but believe me NO ONE would be able to actual make me evaluate and treat people. Anyone who saw me at that point would be a very unhappy patient.
