Broun: Democrats Say Raise Taxes or Go to Hell
Right Side News ^ | 12/4/12 | Joe Rowdy

Posted on 12/04/2012 2:09:32 PM PST by RightSideNews

(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Congressman Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today released the following statement in reaction to President Obama’s dismissal of Republican efforts to provide a solution to the looming fiscal cliff:

“Democrats have basically told Republicans to either raise taxes, or go to hell,” said Broun. “Forcing us to choose between hurting families and small businesses or going off the fiscal cliff is not only counter-productive – it simply doesn’t make sense for righting our nation’s fiscal crisis. The Democrats’ math just doesn’t add up; there is no way to tax our way out of this mess.

Even if they attempt to tax every millionaire and billionaire in America at 100% of their earnings, it still won’t even begin to put a dent in the deficit our federal government is currently running.

The only way to begin restoring limited government is to attack the crux of our problem and drastically scale back this nation’s spending. Unfortunately, this impasse is exactly what the President wants – for the fiscal cliff debate to focus on demonizing the nation’s job creators instead of on how his tax-and-spend policies kill jobs and hurt small businesses.

If he’s really on the side of the middle class, the President should lighten the load of debt he’s saddled them with over the last four years.”

Representative Paul C. Broun, Jr. was elected in July of 2007 to serve the Tenth District of Georgia. Since his arrival in Congress, he has been appointed to the House Homeland Security Committee, the House Committee on Natural Resources, and currently serves as Chairman of the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee for the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Dr. Broun grew up in Athens, Georgia where he attended Athens High School and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1967 with a B.S. in Chemistry. In 1971, he received his Medical Doctor degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. An internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon and a residency at University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama followed.

...But when are our Republican elected leaders going to fight?

I been at FR since 1998. There is not enough bandwidth for me to post the number of times I've seen this same questioned posted?

Isn't it time the conservatives leave the republican party? 14 years is long enough!

No, the Speaker should have the House vote and pass their solution to the Fiscal Cliff and then adjourn. At least there is something for the press to review instead of just reporting the Republicans are playing chicken. Lets change the subject to we passed the law it is up to the President to sign it and if he doesn't he owns it.... The Republicans need to Grow some Balls!

Shucks no! Too much damage is done to our nation when the House is in adjournment. Keep everyone in their townhouses drawing their in-session pay and let C-SPAN carry nothing but round-the-clock video of the empty House chamber, as they're required to do.

They should pass their solution and let the dems and obama do what they will but they should syay in sesssion as long as they can. I wouldn’t have said that in the past, when congress isn’t in session they aren’t spending money or doing harm but now we need them if for nothing else to offer verbal objections, if the’ll even do that.

Paul Broun and Tom Graves are two of our most conservative US reps from GA. I believe both of them voted agains’t raising the debt ceiling and also against’ that stupid super majority and almost every other lame brained idea that Congress has come up with. If we had 50 or 60 more just like them maybe we would have a chance agains’t the Dems.

if theykeep spending more than they can ever hope to take in, doesnt matter - it just won’t work.

dems don’tcare,it’s not about taxes. this is open warfare on the makers. this is blaming the productive for liberal out of control government spending for decades.

this is cuba.

Here’s what I think House Republicans should do. Approve Simpson/Bowles and give Democrats and 0bama plenty of time to make themselves look like hypocritical idiots trashing it, then vote ‘present’ to whatever piece of crap borrow-borrow spend-spend legislation 0bama or the other ‘Rats come up with. I, unfortunately, believe this is about the best House Republicans can do for themselves, and the country, at this point in time.

I wanted to “SEE ROCK CITY” when I was a kid. As we drove past a barn one day with the sign on the roof I asked my mother, “Mom? Can we go see Rock City?”

My mother, being the negative type, responded “Son, I doubt if we’ll ever see Little Rock.”

I’m now just as negative on the GOP.

Excellent!
This guy Broun nails it, and every decent GOP congressman and senator should memorize those words and repeat them over and over and over again.

Regarding your tagline: (I haven't watched the news since the election. Someone ping me if anything big happens.)

We cancelled cable TV more than a year ago, except for Internet access. No satellite either. So, on election night, we watched returns on a local CBS broadcast station in HD but WITH THE AUDIO OFF. Graphics generators showed local and national returns and filled the big screen TV with plenty of info. Since I don't watch CBS or any network news regularly, Scott Pelley was acceptable, as long as we didn't listen to anything he said.

We did this on another TV set as well and went about our evening at home but with more attention paid to the TV than usual.

It worked! We got all the returns we wanted and didn't get all angry or bedazzled when Obama won. Didn't listen to any analysis or speeches or spin. Went to bed before 10PM election night and slept.

The deaf have an advantage over the hearing, when it comes to TV news.
