Full disclosure - I haven't had access to or owned a television or had any sort of cable connection for same since roughly 1970. I can say that this is an excellent idea. A better idea would be to make it permanent for everybody worldwide.

Television is a vast wasteland and does nothing but distract its viewers from things demanding their immediate attention.
