“The “Military” will get tired of the unrest and depose this Islamist clown very soon.”

The senior military leaders who might have deposed the dictator are all gone. They’ve been bought off. They realized that if Obama wanted them gone, they’d be gone, so the buyout looked good.
Obama wouldn’t need to have them killed, he’d just withdraw support. The Egyptian Army depends on Abrams tanks. Support for those tanks is paid for by US taxpayers. If the support (maintenance, spares) are withdrawn then the tanks will stop being useful in fairly short order.

Having said this, the US authorized General Dynamics to sell the Abrams technical data package to the Egyptians. This will allow them to build their own spares. They could, I presume, also give the data package to the Russians or Chinese who would then build and supply spares. Also, the South Koreans have been competing with GD to supply spares and support. (The Korean K1A1 is the M1A1 with a diesel engine.) So, the carrot and stick act won’t work much longer.

Incidentally, the tanks aren’t used by dictators as tanks. They’re mobile pillboxes used for crowd control. Four men in a tank can defeat or disperse thousands of Arab-springers. The only weapons capable of damaging or destroying an Abrams are wire-guided missiles which the Chinese, Russians and Iranians have supplied to the Muslim Brotherhood. As long as the current Muslim Brotherhood dictator is in charge then the wire-guided missiles aren’t a problem. But if one of the other generals had taken charge 10,000 missiles could be deployed against the 1000 Abrams tanks Egypt has.

The officers below them are “moderate” as well. They are not extreme “islamists” and don’t hold the “Brotherhood” in high regard. No president, even in America, can stop a military that decides to throw a coup.

It won’t happen in America because that is not what our military personnel are like. However, in Eygpt, the military is used to being the de facto government. They will not stand by while extreme unrest continues...they will put an end the the current government IF the anti-government forces increase and protest strongly enough.

We should ALL hope the anti-government (AKA anti-Brotherhood) forces grow and cause the military to overthrow the current regime. It is NOT in the U.S. best interests for the Brotherhood to succeed.
