Bozell: 'Time for Conservatives to Start Looking for a New Home'
CNSNews ^ | Tuesday December 4, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - Conservative leaders don't like what they're hearing from House Speaker John Boehner, the man in the middle of fiscal cliff negotiations.

One day after Boehner mentioned an $800-billion tax hike -- half the amount President Obama is seeking -- conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III said the Republican Party is no longer the party of limited government, limited spending and limited taxes:

"It is now officially exactly right behind the Democrats -- on everything," Bozell said. "It is time for conservatives to start looking for a new home. There's precious little left for us here."

Bozell said it's no coincidence that just before releasing his proposal, Boehner orchestrated a purge of conservatives from key positions of power in the Republican Conference.

How about the Conservatives in the House mobilize to vote out Boehner from his leadership position?

Conservatives may get elected as such, but once they get to D.C., something happens to them.

I think there's something in the air there. It's like the Zombie Apocalypse.

The parties have continued to march left...the democrats are now communists, and the republicans are now what dems used to be...we need a party for conservatives. I still like the platform of the Constitution Party.

Why now? Nothing has changed in the last 4 years, or 20 years for that matter.

Well, I imagine there are others that wouldn’t mind representing the constituents.

I guess it boils down to how much pressure is applied by the district. If people are as pissed as I’m led to believe, then the reps should be more responsive.

We need a more vibrant, connected constituency.

the Tea Party is a lot stronger today, than the 19 percent

OK I'll accept your premise even though I think you are wildly optimistic because Perot had essentially unlimited financing which the TP won't come close to.

The R party does about 50% nationally on the popular vote. So the election would split 50/25/25.

20% of the people are liberal and 40% are conservative. A new political party the Tea Party will fix them just fine.

And the GOP still found a way to lose. Clearly, the GOP needs to go away.

As I look back through my life, it becomes apparent to me that the only time I ever had a leader, a magnificent, good, decent and honest man whom I admired then and now was when I was a boy and Ronald Reagan was president.

Outside of him, nothing.

Indeed you are right when you describe GWB and the GOP holding of both houses. They demonstrated precisely what they stand for at that time, and that is ever expanding government.

VRW Conspirator, you have a nice day too, and God Bless.

The bottom line for a GOP Presidental candidate is don’t lie to your base
and u won’t have to worry about a third party candidate picking off enough
to cost the GOP an election.

Perot got his opening from Bush’s lie about not raising taxes.

Not sure how you can call Perot's financing "unlimited". He spent less than his opponents.

I disagree. I think the Tea Party message, if it gets out and takes on the media spin firmly, would draw a LARGE portion of the 30% of registered who do NOT vote, AND a decent proportion of the 35% of eligible voters who do not even register to vote.

LESS government intervention, LOWER taxes for all, fiscal responsibility, and Equal Liberty for all... ALL of those resonate very well with those on the Left and Right and moderates AND non-voters. I think it gets back to a dead heat with the Taker Party within a single election.

So how about Sarah Palin taking Armey’s spot at FreedomWorks and leading the gradual development of the GOP’s replacement?

For 2014, I’d suggest getting the tea party on the ballot in states like CT and NY that allow candidates to be listed on multiple party lines. By 2016 I’d like to see the tea party with a nationwide structure and a pre-primary national convention by which the party selects its GOP candidate to back through the primaries—this is the GOP’s absolutely last chance!. If that process ends up working (and I’d hope Palin would be the candidate they’d end up supporting), then fine. If not, I want to see the party on the ballot in all 50 states by 2018, and winning the presidency in 2020.

You either make the republican party more conservative or nothing.

You gotta love a Freeper who lives his tagline. You're settling for a mediocre party that stands for nothing except that which our enemies allow.

No one expects a third party to win elections out of the box. But today's Republican Party can't either. The idea is to confront the Republican Party with the loss of influence and power that will surely follow -- necessarily -- by the revolt of its base.

We want their attention. That's how you gain control -- not by working from within a party structure that is built for conservatives to fail.

The vote for Speaker is non-denominational, is it not? The RATs will gladly toss in with the RINOs to pull a Boehner on us.

Damn, guess some people around here are starting to a heaping helping of the treatment Ron Paul supporters and libertarians got all year. Well, a lot longer than that, actually. But yeah...this is how it feels. It’s gonna sting for a little while. Walk it off.

Oh, B.S! It's a different age, a different time now than it was 20 years ago. There's no use standing up and fighting the stupid party any more rinos have won!

The tea party formed for just this reason!

LESS government intervention, LOWER taxes for all, fiscal responsibility, and Equal Liberty for all...

Here in Indiana, a fairly typical heartland state, the party espousing that platform got 1.9% of the popular vote in 2012.

‘what about a “cave”, for they always cave, don’t they? Every time one sees the name “Boehner”, he knows the word “cave” can’t be far behind.’

So we put the two logos together, A Chicken in a Cave.
That could be their anthem, sung to the tune of ‘Turkey in the Straw’.

I get a kick out of the false conservatives who blame the people not the failed leaders and successful greedy opportunists. No one has ever done well blaming their own supporters.
Given a real leader, like Mr. Reagan, the conservatives will come together and can change America for the better.

Republicans in the House would vote for Pelosi in a second rather than risk a conservative being elected Speaker.

Would tend to get in the way of the feeding frenzy at the treasury.

Good visual, that needs to be a mailable graphic...

Chicken heading straight for the cave.

Sums up Bonehead, McConnell and the RINO/GOPe, perfectly.
