No matter what “official records” exist today, it hardly matters. Not when they can apply Social Network Analysis algorithms, and come up with all of the categories and watch lists they’ll ever need. Unless you also never made an “anti-govt” (sic) post on the internet, or ever bought ammo or a magazine with a credit card. “Official records” are almost an unneeded relic of the 20th century horse and buggy and vacuum tube eras. SNA turns all the telescopes faster than any “official” data points. Unless you’ve been a hermit, living in a cabin off the grid. In which case, you won’t much matter to the coming interesting times at all, as if you had just been a bear or a coyote passing through. If it’s just about safety, then you might as well be an early adapter, and turn Stasi informant in the first wave, and get the most credit. Dang, how many more lists can I be on? Who cares? If they come for us, it’s game on, we all know that. I hope some of them know it.

That last rant was just “in general” but mostly to apillar’s caution. Didn’t want B.E. to think it was at him.

"...I heard on FOX that in a new bill concerning the Veterans Administration; that any vet that has been judged to be incompetent to handle their own finances they shall be entered into a criminal database that will prohibit them from owning firearms."

That's what's already being done to veterans. Coburn's proposed Amendment to the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act bill was an effort to change that by requiring adjudication before violating veterans' Second Amendment rights. McCain argued against the Amendment, so Coburn stopped trying.

Re your post #24. I wish to point out that I am indeed a very, very OldPossum. I have lived a wonderful life, though with some bumps, and therefore, I am not interested in parlaying my integrity in exchange for a longer life. I have no intention of giving up my guns voluntarily. The “storm troopers” will get them but only after I have no further use for them.

So, you see, I have no viewpoint on “give away” guns.

Can't you and others think of some other way that the "firearms" were lost? Lack of imagination, I suppose.

Dropped it in the cesspool. Feel free to look for it.

Really? You didn't find it?

Bummer, must have rusted to bits. Well, thanks for cleanin' the cesspool for me.

Now, that’s better. I would think you might take your gun with you to the outhouse as opposed to a boat (unless you’re a duck hunter).

Well, thank you.

Maybe if we keep telling them that what they’re constantly saying is a colossal bore they will stop it. Not in my lifetime, of course, but eventually...

NICS and NCIS are not the same. FFLs contact NICS (Nat Instant Check Sys) for the sole purpose of getting ATFE advice to either “proceed, hold or do not proceed” with a transfer of a firearm. Has nothing to do with background checks etc. I believe that the ATFE operators who man NICS query NCIS or other databases to provide such advice.
