Well, House leadership made sure to elevate like-minded members to leadership; they took care to co-opt the Republican Study Committee; they packed the Steering Committee, which chooses committee assignments, with a bunch of loyalists. Now we’re seeing the effects of those decisions.
Maybe it’s because he’s intent on repealing Dodd-Frank. Maybe it’s because he wants to use his committee assignment to advocate winding down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Perhaps it’s because of his opposition to the $1 trillion farm bill. Maybe it’s because he’s just too darn conservative to sit on an important committee.
Earlier today, we provided a list of those who made it onto the Super A committees. Well, Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) is a conservative freshman member who was actually kicked off the Financial Services Committee. Members are rarely kicked off committees unless there is a scandal.
David Schweikert is one of those 2010 freshmen who is actually a Tea Partier in deed as well as rhetoric. While many freshmen folded under the pressure from leadership, Schweikert was actually removed from the Whip team because of his conservative dissent during the budget battles.
And who is replacing him on the committee? Our good buddy, Richard Hudson (NC-8), who was handpicked by leadership to run. Hmmm, I can’t remember the last time a sophomore member was replaced by an incoming freshman for no good reason.
Moreover, there are at least seven vacancies on this committee. It’s not like there were too many qualified candidates. Cantor and McCarthy went out of their way to banish Schweikert from the committee, even though he is one of the few remaining freshmen who were reelected. It’s pretty sad they are willing to let their personal vendetta lead their decision to knock off one of the most knowledgeable members on issues pertaining to GSEs and monetary policy from the committee.
Then there’s the case of Tim Huelskamp (R-KS). He is one of the most conservative members of the House. He was told today that his service on the Budget Committee would no longer be appreciated. Maybe it’s because of statements like this.
Update: Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) was also tossed off the Budget Committee.
There are more conservatives who are being left off any A or B level committee as we speak. Some don’t have any committee assignments yet for next year.
It’s becoming clear that there is only one faction that demands ideological purity. And it’s not the faction that upholds the ideology of the party.

There are a few flying Boehner monkeys on FR who will try to tell you this is completely untrue, and nothing of this sort has happened ever on Boehner’s watch—when it’s his regular MO.
We freepers need to create a full account of all the Tea Party people who have either been redistricted out, or marginalized in office. It is seriously disconcerting. We can start here in Florida with Allen West and Sandy Adams...both bold conservatives who were standing for principle over party. The freshmen who got to Washington and while conservative are bending to the leadership still stand. The story here that other freshmen like David Shweikert in AZ lost their committees for no reason.

Of course they are. Their aim seems to run parallel to the dems, but to stay in office they have to put on their little shows now and again.
And most of the so called TEA party candidates were phony - they used the conservatives to get elected only to become good little Rino’s as soon as they got into office.
Republicans are on the path to the same dark place as the dems.
And they are going to keep it up until we are gone.
So, as others have asked .... why do we support the GOP?

Don’t know how close we are to having 51% with a brain and attachments, but if we have a shot, we better take it pretty soon. The Crybaby ain’t getting no better.
However, we did bust down Bolling, Romney's buddy who fixed the primary so nobody else could run ~ but if we have to then Cantor goes into the skillet for a time.
Other than having Democrats take pot shots at his office, what has Cantor done for us ~ is he carrying his weight?

I have believed for a long time the Leftist Democrats have been trying to manipulate the Conservatives into a third party to make them as irrelevant as all third parties.
RINO’s IMO are nothing by stealth Leftists occupying critical positions in the GOP for the purpose of bending the party to the will of the Left, thus I wouldn’t put it past them to engage in similar behavior as the Democrat Party for the same goal.
More of this type of situation as outlined in this article just reinforces my beliefs.
What’s shocking is the presidential campaign and what I saw of the senate campaigns was straight out of the consultant boilerplate handbook. All got crushed. I don’t get how any group of people could be so hard headed to see that the base of the party wins consistently and that the might moderate talk loses. It is beyond comprehension.
I believe Red State’s recent exposé on the consultant incestual situation between fundraisers, media companies, direct mail and digital has a lot to do with it. It is big money above results. I would think they could still make money and have a desire to win.
Is it greed, lust for power, serious dirt, or a combo that is causing GOP leadership to act like traitors? I go with, "All of the above."
Yeah I know, it wouldn't do any good. The blind masses across the nation would just re-elect them.
A “diarist” on DailyKos has been insisting for years that Boner is carrying on an affair with a lobbyist. Let’s find out and expose it, if true. It’s time to do whatever it takes to force this vile creep out of the Speaker’s chair.

It looks like Mick Mulvaney is taking Schweikert’s spot. I dont know much about him, but it looks like he is in the Tea Party Caucus.

We need term limits but I have no idea how to get them. Too bad our Founding Fathers didn’t put them in the Constitution from the start.
