“Bow and Arrow” used in WY campus murder/suicide

Bow and Arrows don't kill people, people kill people

There has always been a vigorous debate about the necessity of campus gun control laws, especially after the Virginia Tech massacre in which the shooter killed 32 people and wounded 15.

A tragedy highlights the point that gun control opponents make, that it is the person and not the weapon that is the real issue.

A man killed a woman near a community college in Casper, Wyoming, before killing a male teacher and himself in front of a class full of students, according to police.

The ABC news affiliate in Casper reports that police say the attack at Casper College occurred while class was in session.

“What we can find is that the individual that committed the violent acts was not a student at the college, but that there was a known relationship between [the victims],” said Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh at a press conference on Friday afternoon.

The Police Chief later clarified that all three had known each other. Police say the killer was not a current student at Casper College. Walsh could not confirm that the suspect was a former student, either. Walsh added that there were no records that could have tipped off authorities to any kind of threat. Walsh said no firearms were used during the homicides, and rather said that “edged weapons” were involved.

However, multiple students told K2 News that some kind of a bow-and-arrow weapon was used. Walsh later emphasized that following the attacks no suspects were at large and there (are) no threats of random violence.

Wyoming ABC affiliate K2TV has further details, which include the fact the suspect killed the woman on a street near campus before heading to the college and killing a male faculty member and himself in a classroom in the World Science Building.

Couldn’t denigrating bows and arrows as the cause of a murder be racist? Perhaps Native American spokesperson Sen. Elizabeth Warren should comment.

People should be able to have sex whenever and with whoever they want [per Christie at the beach]

Being able to fornicate or have adultery is different than it being right to fornicate or have adultery. It is not the job of government to enforce all of Natural Law...the trick is figuring out what bits it should try to enforce. But in the meanwhile, people should not confuse "legal" with "ok". Some uses of our "rights" are not right to exercise. For example it may be my "right" to say something viciously cruel to a person who just experienced a tragedy...but it certainly is a nasty and evil thing to do so. Likewise, it may not be the governments business if somebody cheats on their spouse, but it is still wrong.

“According to the news, the reason why he killed dad was because he, the son, had Aspergers syndrome and he wanted to stop dad from reproducing.

Obviously, the son had some issues.”

I’ve always thought it should be called A**holers Syndrome.

With the PC ABC reporting it’s a wonder they didn’t say.

Remember the movie DELIVERANCE in which John Voight was in the hospital with a self inflicted arrow wound, in the back!

If only Bob Costas had a gun in his house and practiced his theory.

***TWO PEOPLE KILLED CLEANING LOADED CROSSBOW***

I wonder every time I see an article or police report of someone killed while “cleaning a loaded gun”.

I believe this is because insurance companies will not pay off for a suicide.

wait a minute, I thought all those weapons were confiscated when the natives were segregated on the reservations; looks like the “bow and arrow’ registration laws are not working /sarc

But the 56-year-old rose and fought back. Police aren’t sure how long the struggle lasted, but it gave the students inside enough time to escape.

Before Chris could spray the room with arrow-fire, like an Agincourt-era English longbowman?

Brave students. (/s) You'd think in Wyoming, of all places, someone would come to the aid of a 56-year-old man who's been shot in the head with an arrow, but is still fighting.

“brave students”

Wyoming. I thought the same thing.

I mean, maybe he had a big machete or something. And it was a computer science class, no offense intended. But 20 years ago in Wyoming, or even 10, that loser would have had his butcher knife deep in his own pot roast before the ranch boys would have left that room.

The article just says “knives,” so I’m assuming they were garden-variety hunting or kitchen knives.

Even if he had a knife in each hand, several students - even girls - would have been able to get him away from the injured man, especially if they clobbered him with a chair a few times. It’s a different situation from charging someone shooting a gun right at you.

Yes that’s what I envisioned as well.

Couple guys (or gals) with a desk and a chair and you brain the crap out of him. If a couple went three or four more should have followed.

But you know these kids have seen and heard nothing but the broadcast garbage flowing from other violent campus situations and the end message is always: head down; be passive; run away.

The ones who stand up to a criminal or a lunatic are always criticized or prosecuted or both.

You're right, unfortunately.
