Lock Your Doors And Prepare To Defend Your Family
By Michael Snyder
December 2nd, 2012
Do you think that is an alarmist headline? Well, I am not the one saying this. Law enforcement authorities all over the country are telling citizens that they can no longer deal with all the crime and that people need to lock their doors and prepare to defend their families. Just recently, the city attorney of San Bernardino, California told citizens to "lock their doors and load their guns" because there is not enough money to pay for adequate police protection any longer. The murder rate in San Bernardino is up 50 percent this year, but the city is dealing with bankruptcy and has been forced to lay off 80 police officers. But San Bernardino is not the only city dealing with this kind of a thing. In Oakland, burglaries are up 43 percent so far this year, and to say that there is a "crime wave" going on in Oakland would be a massive understatement. If you can believe it, in Oakland "more than 11,000 homes, cars or businesses have been broken into so far this year translating to about 33 burglaries a day." Sadly, there simply are not enough police to keep up with it all.
Due to budget cuts, it is being projected that by February the size of the police force in Oakland will be about 25 percent smaller than it was back in 2008. But what is happening in Detroit is perhaps even more frightening. Today there are about 1,000 fewer police officers in Detroit than there was a decade ago. But crime just continues to rise. So now even the police are telling people to "enter Detroit at your own risk". With very little police protection, an increasing number of citizens are taking matters into their own hands. As I noted in a previous article, justifiable homicide in the city of Detroit increased by 79 percent in 2011, and the rate of self-defense killings in Detroit is approximately 2200 percent above the national average. But don't laugh at what is happening in cities like San Bernardino, Oakland and Detroit. What is happening in those cities will be coming to your community soon enough.
From coast to coast, criminals are becoming increasingly bold and increasingly desperate. My sister lives near a large city in the middle part of the country, and a house across the street from the one her family just moved into was recently vandalized. The criminals took all of the exposed copper pipe and copper wire that could be accessed easily.
Other criminals have become very focused on gold because it has soared in value and it is easy to resell. For example, there have been more than 250 gold chain robberies in Stockton, California just since the month of April. According to the CBS News affiliate in Sacramento, criminals are just ripping these chains right off of the necks of unsuspecting citizens, and many of the victims that have tried to resist have ended up getting hurt. Normally the criminals sell off the jewelry within 24 hours, so solving these crimes is a real challenge...
Most victims of the robberies are female (65 percent), and 44 percent of victims are age 50 or older, the data showed. The most common time of day for the crimes were between 12 and 5 p.m., though this only accounts for about a third of the crime.
Parino said robbers took even police by surprise initially.
When [criminals] do these crimes, they normally get rid of the items within 24 hours, he said.
Thats why police are now checking up on secondhand stores and pawn shops on a weekly basis.
Many dismiss reports such as these as "anomalies", but how many "anomalies" do we need before we finally admit that we have a widespread problem in our society?
Personally, there are many major U.S. cities that I would not want to be living right in the middle of right now.
Just take a look at Chicago. It has become one of the deadliest major cities on the entire globe. In recent years we have seen massive cuts to the police budget coupled with a dramatic increase in gang activity in Chicago.
The murder rate in Chicago is way up this year and the police force is massively outnumbered.
As I have written about previously, there are only about 200 police officers assigned to Chicago's Gang Enforcement Unit. It is their job to handle the estimated 100,000 gang members living in the city.
How would you like to be outnumbered 100,000 to 200?
When things really hit the fan, Chicago is going to be a complete and utter nightmare.
And sometimes we get a peek into how people will behave when things break down. Just look at what happened during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
If you can believe it, some criminals actually took advantage of the Thanksgiving holiday to loot homes in the Breezy Point neighborhood of Queens. That was the neighborhood where approximately 100 homes burned down. The suffering of the residents of that neighborhood made headlines all over the nation. But that has not stopped criminals from moving in and taking advantage of their vulnerability...
Cops told the victims burglaries are on the rise in Breezy Point.
There were 14 home break-ins from Nov. 12 to Nov. 18, compared with none a year before.
And in the 28 days before that, there were 48 burglaries. Only four break-ins were reported in that time period the year before.
In the days after Sandy, some of the hardest-hit areas were plagued with store looting, home burglaries, street muggings and other crimes.
There are some very sick people out there. These days you simply do not know who you can trust. The person you meet on the street may be perfectly fine or they may be a total sicko. It is so hard to tell. But without a doubt there are a lot of sickos out there. Just check out what authorities in Pennsylvania found recently...
Animal welfare workers say 11 puppies were found dead and skinned near an eastern Pennsylvania park.
Sadly, authorities in that area had come across another similar incident recently...
The discovery is second disturbing incident in the county in less than a week. About 20 miles away in Lynn Township police say a dog was discovered skinned and cooked.
Who would do such things?
What in the world is happening to this country?
Things are changing, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. As conditions shift, we are all going to have to carefully evaluate what is necessary to protect our families. Don't ignore all of the warning signs. Sticking our heads in the sand and pretending that everything is going to be okay is not going to help anything.
So what do all of you think about all of this?
According to Bob Costas, guns are bad, very very bad..so if someone breaks into your house, just grab a fork and say “Hey you want some of THIS”
I am no expert, but if someone ever breaks into our apartment here, I am gonna at least try to plug their ass before they plug mine. Oh, yes, and we’re in a neighborhood with lots of Section 8 tenants. Gonna try to avoid running too many errands at night if I can. And we’re going to move out of here as soon as we can save up enough money for moving expenses and car repairs. We’re taking the 6 cats with us, too!>
Here’s what everyone needs to know:
Cops do not equal protection.
I repeat, Cops do NOT equal PROTECTION.
Sheesh
Yeah, dumbass Bob sais f the kid fro the Chiefs hadn’t had a gun it wouldn’t have happened. I threw my remote at the TV on that one.
” Who would do such things?
What in the world is happening to this country?”
Paganism, in its many forms, is the fastest rising “religion”.
Any questions?
OJ didn’t have a gun and that didn’t stop him from killing two people at the same time. Costas is a jackass.
Good thing I was watching the Laker game and did not hear this nonsense(Watching this game already makes me want to throw the remote, whole other matter) this makes my blood boil. I don’t own a gun, never even seen one(But I would love to go to a gun range and take some lessons) but I support people’s right to own guns..if we don’t protect ourselves from the scumbags out there who will..you take away all the guns and the gang bangers and other scum will still have them..what next, ban knives, ban rope, people use rope to hang people, maybe we should ban that next..or how about banning booze..how many people die everyday at the hands of drunk drivers..or how about banning cell phones, how many people have died because someone was texting or tweeting or talking on their cell phone instead of driving..we have become a society that people don’t have to accept responsibility for ANYTHING anymore, its always someone else’s fault
That is why I am armed enough to hold off a group for a decent amount of time
Keep them loaded and always close at hand at all times!
The sort that would sacrifice an animal is more than just pagan. I’ve kept my dogs inside on certain nights, Halloween and others, for many years. It’s not new, just getting bolder and more widespread.
“I repeat, Cops do NOT equal PROTECTION.”
Exactly!
Cops are there to write up the report AFTER the crime has been committed, nothing else.
I know.
We were brought up to believe and trust in “authority figures”.
Ditch that crap...take responsibility for yourselves, or be a victim.
Our pooch does not go out alone. Period. Sucks getting up at 3 AM on nights he can’t make it but at least I know he’s coming back.
You can thank Liberals for everything listed in the article.
The day-time breakins are on the increase in the Seattle area. Sometimes the homeowner is home and didn’t here the doorbell ring and then surprises the perps.
In one instance the homeowner came out with his shotgun as the guys were getting in their truck. He took a shot at them as they fled. The cops said to look for a red pickup truck with the back window of the canopy blown out. (No charges against the homeowner.)
Another cop said “It’s open-season on criminals now.”
Very true.
Even though I have a very securely fenced yard, the dogs are *never* out there without me watching over them.
Time for this female senior citizen to get my CCL I guess.
I have about an acre fenced behind the house and mine usually have the run of it whenever they want to go out the dog door, electronic, they’re the only thing that can come back in through it. I only have one dog now but have had as many as three.
I’ve never had any indication that anyone has gotten in back there who shouldn’t have been there. I’ve lived here eighteen years and there has never been a crime of any sort on this street or in the whole neighborhood. It’s getting closer though. Everybody has at least a small acreage, many are set well back from the road. Mine is. One thing I’ve noticed is all the target practice out here. At least four neighbors do on weekends now. That’s a fairly recent thing. You didn’t hear gunfire from anything but hunters and at a distance before this year.
I live in a small town in rural WI, and had 3 Christmas packages stolen from my front step. (They were delivered about 5:30 P.M on Thursday according to UPS). We got home at 6:15 and they were gone. I keep checking local Craigslist to see if someone has the gall to sell them.....
"Protection" is about 6 bodyguards for about $600,000 a year... 24/7 protection ain't cheap. As taxpayers most of us do NOT want to provide citizens with bodyguards...
The owebamazombies are feeling pretty confident now that their man has cheated his way back into the white hut. They know that its open season on anybody who is stupid enough to work for a living and that getting caught will only be a minor incovenience.
Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
Yup, the thieves follow the trucks. If no one picks up the package right away (drivers won’t wait for you), they take it.
If you have guns at home protect them like they are gold. Don’t leave all your guns at home when you are out, if someone has broken in they have access to your home defense. Don’t let it be known that you have guns or anything else of value for that matter.Make your place uninviting to a burglar in any way you can. Know your neighbors
And Bob Costas has an armed bodyguard I’m sure.
Liberals say we need high taxes for police, roads. But it’s a nationwide story city police forces are collapsing. Camden, NJ just eliminated its police and now the County taxpayers have to police the city.
Liberals are evil destructive bastards.
Exactly. As the saying goes, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. That is not just a cute saying, it is very, very true. Average code 3 (lights and sirens) response time in these parts is verified, tracked, and reported at 9 minutes. I don't know about you, but I can do a lot of damage in 9 minutes. I don't want myself nor my loved-ones at some thugs mercy for 9 minutes. I'd rather use those 9 minutes to get my story straight, calm my loved ones, and promise the wife that yes, we'll finally be replacing the carpet.
The police are there to protect society as a whole, not any one person. Literally, someone has to commit a crime before the police do anything. So you have to be a victim first. Then they'll swing into action, try to apprehend the suspect, hope the DA, judge, and jury work as advertised and lock the scumbag up. All that happens (maybe) after you and/or yours are victims. You don't like the idea of yourself or a loved-one being injured, raped, killed? Then it is 100% up to you to take steps to prevent it.
Get in shape, even marginally. In America people that exercise regularly have an advantage over those that don't, because most don't. Carry a weapon on you at all times. A knife, a gun, whatever you can legally carry. I know people that have carried illegal weapons at times figuring if something went down, at least they'd be alive to answer for it. Whatever your comfort level. Stay alert. Situational awareness is everything. Many thugs won't target someone who is alert. They don't want someone who is prepared to put up a fight. That visible alertness may save you from an attack, or at least give you a few seconds to prepare for it.
In short, be ready. That includes you lib lurkers. No amount of whining about unfairness, playing the race card, nor blaming someone else will save you either. Be ready.
When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.
Many (all?) California cities have cut their police forces by significant numbers. The feds made us release “non violent” offenders from State Prisons due to “overcrowding.” The results are entirely predictable...property crime (mainly daylight burglaries) are WAY up in our peaceful little town. I drove to South San Jose today to get some lumber and I’ve never seen such graffiti on freeway overpasses as I saw today. It was absolutely appalling.
Thank Goodness we are using our tax money to keep the illegals well fed, well clothed, well housed, well schooled, and provided with good health care, drivers licenses, etc.
I just put mine in the safe when I’m gone. Right next to many pounds of black and smokeless powder and primers.
If they decide to cut it open, the blast will be heard miles away.
Music to my ears. About time we tried some old west justice to clean up these towns.
Animal welfare workers say 11 puppies were found dead and skinned near an eastern Pennsylvania park.
They turned out to be fox, not dogs.
Communist Obamanation File.
Cops bring the body bags and shoot your dog. Get a gun and protect yourself and your family. It's still legal.
For now.
SSS
Conservatives would do well to leave the liberal enclaves of major cities before SHTF. Let the unarmed libs get what they deserve for voting for decades because of white guilt and wanting to take the path of least resistance while appearing to be morally superior to everyone else.
Won’t help you when Holder’s people get their entitlements cut and decide your place is gonna be their place.
I'm mad as hell and its about time the law-abiding folks in this country send a warning -- enter my home, threaten my family, accost me with evil intent, then you WILL get a cap busted on your sorry ass and you WILL regret messing with me.
This has become a disgusting method of blackmailing voters into approving tax increases. Budget short fall? First things cut are services essential to taxpayers, not the highly-paid boards, commissions, advisory councils etc. that politicians use to reward their friends and supporters.
From Drudge, " Jovan Belcher was allegedly battling football-related head injuries and booze, painkiller..." issues, and Mister Costas blames the firearm.
The solution?
I would require weekly drug screening for all NFL players, coaches, and refs (and Costas).
.
(Sorry for taking the thread in a different direction, btw.)
Exactly. If I'm killed with my own gun it'll be because my Ka-Bar was out of reach and I was beaten to death by one of their survivors with my empty Glock. But if I've got bullets and/or my Ka-Bar, I will do whatever it takes to win. Whatever it takes.
First...we need solid Right to Self Defense Laws (RSD) that are more protective for crime victims than Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine Laws
When I see what is happening to George Zimmerman here where I live....with the Black Ku Klux Klan basically lynching him because he had to cap a violent black person beating on him...I am now a little nervous to exercise self-defense. If you are white and cap a minority....the Racist Groups are coming after you
And, RSD Laws are really needed in majority non-white cities
As long as there is power, my small group of townhomes is behind a locked gate. Sure, someone could climb over the wall surrounding the place, but they won't be driving in and there are houses everywhere around that are easy pickings compared to this place.
I have security warnings that will alet me if someone has touched my window or door and the door can't be kicked open. Of course, I have fatal deterrents should my door be breached.
The thing is, in all my long life this has never happened and now we are rapidly collapsing economically and that sets up criminals to try to get what someone else has. I think we are past the time when it was coming as it is now here.
There is no guessing anymore as to when it would happen. Everyone should have a gun and know how to shoot it and stock water and food.
I agree. Here is a conundrum for gun-owners who are either military retirees or civilian employees on military bases: They can carry all day long... until they go on base.
Not sure why the price for entering a military base should be forfeiting one’s Second Amendment rights.
Even if the base is safe, what about the (unarmed) ride home?
