He IS on the shows to show that Obama can make really bad choices for Cabinet positions and get them confirmed. So, in contrast, Obama thinks Susan Rice looks better.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that of all the people who replied to my post, you are the only person who actually read Robert Spencer's article. Grover Norquist is a dangerous man, and we do not need him to state the obvious about taxes. But the media puts him up for the simple reason that he does keep the Republican’s over a barrel when it comes to the opposition to Islam that he so wants to neutralize.

I don’t think we can do it. We are entering an age as unpredictable as what our great-grandparents experienced when the automobile and the radio and the telephone, etc changed the world.

Every child today has instant access to liberal lies, and they sound so sweet and normal to them. The messages they absorb come from the leftists who have positioned themselves in places of ‘education’ and ‘entertainment’ where the message of Big Benevolent Government is constant, and the concepts of Liberty and Personal Responsibility are counter to the ‘good of the whole.’

Republicans in Congress are now in the position of General Washington and the Continental Army as they were retreating from the British in December 1776.

Washington did not quit, but instead convinced his troops to go back across the Delaware River - in a snow storm - and attack the Hessian troops at Trenton, NJ.

I see our only hope for the future is a total last ditch stand by our House of Representatives this month - and I plan to phone as many of their offices as I can to leave this exact message!

On Meet The Press, Claire Macaskill was pushing hard about some $23 Billion (Bilion with a B) program cut. Too bad the host does not realize that the annual deficit is 1,000 Billion per year. (Yes, I know annual means per year, but I don't know if DNC Dave does).

There is no serious attempt to control spending; Barry Obama, Harry Ried and Nancy Pelosi are running amuck with the national checkbook and there is no attempt to stop them. That's why Barry needs a permanent executive power to raise the debt ceiling, because the dials are spinning so fast even the big spenders in DC can't keep up with it.

Oh yes, Bohner will make a deal. The GOP is more frightened of the Obama media than they are of terrorists. The establishment Republicans do NOT want to walk off the "Fiscal Cliff" so-called. Bohner will make a deal with his golfing buddie - you can take that to the bank. NOW whether the House can find the votes to pass it is another matter.

The GOP blew it big time in the lame duck session following the 2010 midterms. They could have made the Bush tax cuts permanent and we would have avoided the current "crisis." And the GOP never could get any real reductions in spending, which still goes up every year.

I do find it interesting that when the Bush tax cuts were passed, the Dems and some Reps (McCain) claimed that they were just for the wealthy. Now Obama wants to keep them for the middle class. If the Clinton tax rates were so great and contributed to a booming economy, why not go back to the Clinton tax rates for everyone?

It must be very difficult to negotiate with people like that, when you are constantly worried that they are picking your pocket. Politicians are by and large lawyers, word people - not mathemeticians. And they are bombarded with lobbyists for everything.

Fudging numbers has to be the number one industry in DC.

I have pointed that out to some of my employees, that their income tax bill will go up 2-3,000 per year under Clinton income tax rates, PLUS the FICA tax. Chris Von Hollen on MTP says that "we need another year of continued payroll tax holidays".

We are approaching the point where there is no point in having any tax collections at all. Turbo Tax Timmy and Berhnake can just print more money and have fun,fun fun until Daddy takes the T-Bird away.

Good catch kabar. Its often been pointed out that you can’t view the Clinton tax rates in a vaccuum. Manyh of us would gladly go back to those days of less regulation, no obmacare, etc., etc.no trillions in debt.

It seems we could make a good case by joining with the Dems and demanding Clinton era financial policies. R's would be loathe to give so much credit to a Dem, but it's a very small price to pay.

How do Dems refute it ?

In actual fact, the .com boom of the mid 90's, lower spending, smaller social outlays (welfare) coupled with far fewer regulations enabled a pretty healthy economy. We'll have a similar energy boom to take the place of the .com activity.

It's a start, but still doesn't address entitlements.

Yep, the SS payroll tax holiday coupled with the fact that SS has been running in the red since 2010 costs us $160 billion a year from the General Fund—more than the $100 billion they are trying to cut due to sequestration.
