Boehner on 'Cliff' Talks: 'We're Almost Nowhere'
CNBC ^ | November 30,2012

Posted on 11/30/2012 1:15:30 PM PST by Hojczyk

House Speaker John Boehner lashed out Friday at President Barack Obama, saying negotiations to avoid the "fiscal cliff" are "almost nowhere."

Boehner spoke after Republicans disclosed that the White House was $1.6 trillion in tax increases up front, as well as $50 billion in additional stimulus spending. (Read More: Speaker Boehner Discusses 'Fiscal Cliff.')

Boehner said the plan would be a "crippling blow" to an economy that is still struggling to find its footing.

"There's a stalemate. Let's not kid ourselves," the Ohio Republican told reporters. "Right now, we're almost nowhere,"

Even so, he added, he was determined to continue working with Obama.

A half-trillion-dollar combination of governmental spending cuts and tax increases for all Americans would automatically go into effect in January, threatening to send the country back into recession. Obama is pressing for an extension of Bush-era tax cuts only for individuals making less than $200,000 or families making under $250,000. He wants a tax increase for the wealthiest Americans.

A tax increase on middle class families would be like a "lump of coal" for Christmas, Obama said Friday during a campaign-style visit to a toy factory in Pennsylvania.

Were not exactly “nowhere”...

Wherever you go, boehner, there you are!

Anyways, walk away... there is nothing to gain by negotiating with a Cloward-Pivenist Marxist 0bamalogue.

I think its safe to say the Grand Negro and his dems want to take the ride down the cliff. After all they get higher taxes and a bunch of defense cuts.

Well Mr. “Speaker” it depends on just what your definition of “nowhere” is now doesn’t it. Mine would be at the bottom of the Marianas Trench and sinking!

Boner calls it “Almost Nowhere” - I would say he is a couple of miles behind where they were when the “Grand Bargin” was almost reached, when about a year ago?

What an amazing thing to detect a member of the middle class, whatever that is, by examining one’s taxable income. Incredible!

Decades and decades of Grand Bargains by both sides in DC
have brought us to the brink. You vote for my pork in a bill
and I will vote for your bridge to nowhere.

The only solution these dc HACKS have to offer is more taxes
which will only delay the coming collapse. This country is so
divided that nothing will be done. They are incapable of solving
the spending issues because they all helped create it.

As a result, the only outcome left is a collapse.
I truly hate Bonehead, Cantor and McConnell.

Dear John; every time you plant your face in front of a camera or answer a reporter’s questions, you will get kicked in the groin. This CNBC article makes the Republicans out to be the bad guys, and there’s your mug at the start of the story. It doesn’t matter what you say, they are going to kick you in the gonads. Hang your head and walk past every camera and reporter without saying a word. At least they won’t be able to put your face up there when they start screaming about the cruel Republicans. And how many reporters will these cash strapped networks need if they don’t interview Republicans?

He’ll wait until the last possible moment to cave. Every so-called stalemate plays out the same way.

Anyone who questions him will be ridiculed by the GOP media.

Republicans need to walk out and let Obama and dems own this. How many times do the people need to say this?

Rush nailed it today. Obama WANTS the fiscal cliff to happen. Taxes go up on everyone at first of the year, he says he tried to negotiate, he blames Republicans. Then, after the pain is sufficiently felt by the people with higher unemployment, business closures, etc, he swoops to the rescue and says: “We need to save the middle class and offer them some sort of a [lesser] tax cut.” Republicans can’t object, he gets to call himself a tax cutter. It’s all very Machiavellian, evil in fact. But everyone here has already come to expect this from Obama.

Rush rambled a bit long on this topic today, but within it there was the blueprint of what to do: piecemeal the pertinent, pressing, legislation that will benefit the real middle class, outside of the fiscal cliff bill...
