I responded to this commenter...

Dem4ever wrote: Their constitution is written for them and by them [the Egyptians]. We need to respect this simple fact. You can’t judge the quality of their constitution living out side of their society. It is proposed that the document be out for public review and vote, isn’t that what democracy is all about? --------------------------

...with this:

Is this also how you feel about our (U.S.) constitution, or is it a "living, breathing document"?

--------------- My comment is currently being "moderated" to determine if it is "acceptable". Any wagers on "acceptability? This is Reutes after all:)

No matter... just so long as it doesn’t look like the U.S. Constitution, I’m sure Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg approves.

It appears they write their Constitutions the way the Democrats wrote the Obamacare bill.

If our side would hit the streets like these folks (and Democrats), we might have a fighting chance...

It will be interesting to see how far they get with their protests. The new constitution essentially enshrines Islamic law (sharia) as the law of the state and also specifically appoints the government as the “enforcer of public morality and behavior” as dictated by Islamic law.

It also removes from the judiciary any power of review and in fact reorders the entire judicial system to place it under the president and Islamic authorities.

Meet the new Pharaoh, same as the old one. The Egyptians haven’t learned much in 5,000 years.
