Can the U. S. veto this?

Sort of, the US can veto in the Security Council any UN action supporting or opposing the new state, but not the General Assembly's recognition of the existence of said state.

As of a year ago, 126 of the UN members--about two-thirds--already recognized Palestine.

Israel just wants to be able to use the IDF wherever and whenever it wants. UN state recognition could change the legal situation.

Anytime the UN General Assembly votes on anything the anti-Western side wins by a large margin.

However General Assembly votes are only symbolic - they don’t carry any legal authority.

That had occurred to me also. Can’t say as I blame Israel though, with missiles dropping in daily.

Making this more of a state vs state thing could give the U. N. even more room to insert itself into the situation.

65 years ago today:

The United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was a plan for the future government of Palestine. The Plan was described as a Plan of Partition with Economic Union which, after the termination of the British Mandate, would lead to the creation of independent Arab and Jewish States and the Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem. On 29 November 1947, the General Assembly adopted a resolution recommending the adoption and implementation of the Plan as Resolution 181(II).[1]

United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine

Not a People (nation)... the UN

And also Ephraim? (Isaiah 7)

A division or separation, like of like אמריקה into אמ ריקה .
