From Man Who Insulted Muhammad, No Regret
New York Times ^ | 11/26/2012 | SERGE F. KOVALESKI and BROOKS BARNES

LOS ANGELES — Fuming for two months in a jail cell here, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula has had plenty of time to reconsider the wisdom of making “Innocence of Muslims,” his crude YouTube movie trailer depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a bloodthirsty, philandering thug.

Does Mr. Nakoula now regret the footage? After all, it fueled deadly protests across the Islamic world and led the unlikely filmmaker to his own arrest for violating his supervised release on a fraud conviction.

Not at all. In his first public comments since his incarceration soon after the video gained international attention in September, Mr. Nakoula told The New York Times that he would go to great lengths to convey what he called “the actual truth” about Muhammad. “I thought, before I wrote this script,” he said, “that I should burn myself in a public square to let the American people and the people of the world know this message that I believe in.”

In explaining his reasons for the film, Mr. Nakoula, 55, a Coptic Christian born in Egypt, cited the 2009 massacre at Fort Hood, Tex., as a prime example of the violence committed “under the sign of Allah.” His anger seemed so intense over the years that even from a federal prison in 2010, he followed the protests against the building of an Islamic center and mosque near ground zero in New York as he continued to work on his movie script.

Until now, only the barest details were known about the making of the film that inspired international outrage. Initial reports made it seem as if the film had been thrown together in about a year.

I hear people insult the name of Jesus Christ every single day of my life. What’s the big deal with Mohammed?

Imagine that! Anger SO INTENSE that he actually FOLLOWED the protests against the 9-11 mosque!

The New York Times is without doubt the biggest POS newpaper in the country.

They are Obama’s personal mouthpiece.

Any journalist worthy of the name should quit there and find a real job, however there are no journalists working there. Only propagandists.

Obama’s administration jailed this man for no other reason other than to perpetrate their lie. This man is a living martyr.

Yep, when’s the last time someone dunked a koran in a jar of urine and called it art?

They don’t want fatwas issued against them by the peaceful Muslims.

Christians just turn the other cheek. So fair game.

I’m somewhat surprised to see this article in the Times. I’m glad the guy is at least being allowed interviews while serving his trumped-up First Amendment-violating prison sentence.

I initially thought he had been put in place by the Obama regime, since the original video was about the activities of the “Terrorist George” or the “Terrorist B” (B for Bush, presumably), both of which are forms used by the Muslims in reference to GW Bush. In addition, there were questionable things about his financial background (not just the fraud charges) and the people or groups with whom he seems to have had some involvement; at the same time, he may not have known who their actual identity.

But if this article is true, then maybe he really was just trying to produce a video telling the truth about Mohammed.

It’s very obvious in any case that the Federal Government has been watching him for some time and knew exactly how to use him and his video.

I wonder how long they had the “offensive video” story backed up.

Incidentally, to add another layer to the conspiracy theory, Jill Kelley was apparently the person who got the generals involved in pressuring Terry Jones and also got them and local government and law enforcement to dissuade a radio jock named Bubba the Love Sponge from deep-fat frying a Koran.

As Mark Steyn said, Jill Kelley for Secretary of State, because she seems to be the international power broker - on the side of the Muslims (she’s an Arabic speaker, theoretically Maronite, but Maronites are very dhimmified).

It always struck me as completely disproportionate and wierd that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff would call a small town, independent fundamentalist church preacher in Gainesville, Florida, and make it sound like the preacher was causing an international incident with national security considerations if he didn’t give up his First Amendment rights and not show the video.

I notice that most people have forgotten about this incident, because apparently the stunt looked a little ridiculous even to the press so the administration has airbrushed it out of the narrative.

I think you really can trace a very complicated web out from Nakoulah. He and Terry Jones were somewhat marginal, quasi-flaky people who would be easy to ridicule and discredit and who didn’t have any important backers. Thus they were perfect fall guys whenever the Obama regime wanted to use them.

I find it pretty interesting that this guy, who admittedly is hardly an upright citizen, gets a year in jail for a probation violation that involves no more than making a movie and posting a trailer on YouTube. He may have violated a strict interpretation of his probation terms, but he did not commit another crime (except in the eyes of Hillary and the Mufti-in-Chief).

I constantly hear the wailing and moaning about the lack of jail space, about how dangerous criminals are released because there's nowhere to put them. If that's the case, why is this guy still in jail? Unless the Mufti wants to send a signal to his Muslim buddies that on his watch Sharia will be enforced.

His anger seemed so intense over the years blah blah blah. Anger = bad, killing Americans = non-issue. Sure NYT. Is there any reason other than Satanic blindness that people can buy into this line of BS?

Let this serve as a lesson to anyone who tries to exercise freedom of speech against Mohammed while Obama is in power

I don’t think they will fuss too much about Bin Ladin. They don’t show too many movies in that part of the world.

I know that Saudi Arabia has no movie theaters and their internet is heavily censored. The same may be true of the anal retentive islamic countries. They may not know the movie is out for a few months yet.

If we are going to incarcerate people for writings, I think a good place to start would be with the people who print the Koran.

To Hell with the 1st Amendment — ain’t that so, you Leftwing scumbags?

No one from ACLU, Leftwing Media, Hollywood, nor largely Congress stood up for the 1st Amendment.

I beg your pardon but I find that comment deeply offensive!

(You left out calling him a pedophile, rapist, thief, and liar.)

Isn't the NY Times the paper whose deceitful article on the Koran-in-toilet fueled mayhem and murder in the Islamic world?

How about the abu Ghraibh reporting? A lot of riots, destruction and deaths attributable to that, many of the dead westerners as well as the usual muslim-on-muslim violence, and to make sure more got killed, the press reported it every day for months.
